Please help me pick which Nighthawk to buy quickly

Hello
I am debating two Nighthawks one is a Heinie Tactical Carry 100 rds (confirmed) through it all paper work LNIB for $2930 delivered down from $3895 new (not delivered). Or a Talon with 10-8 solid trigger and 10-8 rear sight for $2150 delivered about 100 rounds no signs of carry no box or papers and a small scratch under trigger guard (very faint). Though the Talon is missing its paper work it still has bag and magazines. Which would you go with? I am stuck. I have no .45 ACP ammo or mags anymore. So I was thinking the Talon so I could have some funds left over. Though the Heinie is priced well and has more amenities. Thanks in advance

Talon. It doesn’t get any better.

Talon.

I have one of the Nighthawk 10-8’s. I believe you will be quite happy with the Talon. That is a large price difference for minimal return.
Also, these pistols shine under hard use. The first scratch hurts a little. After that, honest wear is just character.

Thanks guys got the Talon!

Does the NH finish wear anymore than Wilson’s Armor Tuff?

C’mon, pics or it didn’t happen.

:D:p:cool:

Perma coat wears about the same as Armor tuff imo. However; when it starts to look really bad, Nighthawk can put their “Black Diamond” finish on it, which is roughly as durable as the name implies.

Fair enough. When it arrives next week. I’ll give you a picture for proof;)
I’ve heard Diamond Black is pretty heavy duty stuff. I’ve already considered ion bonding it. Though I like a rough looking gun makes it look like or in fact indicates you use the thing.

Same thing.

Perma Kote doesn’t wear…it simply wears off…just by looking at it. It’s absolute junk…

If your Nighthawk comes with Perma Kote, you’ll be a really happy man then…

I have 3 Nighthawks at the moment. Two of them I ordered through them and I got the permakote. It isn’t as durable as they would make you think. Mine aren’t in bad shape or anything, but I have some significant finish wear on the rear of the ejection port from brass dinging there on my Talon II. It isn’t as noticeable on my Enforcer, but that one has typical finish wear at the muzzle from holster carry. The third one I bought used and the slide is black permakote while the frame is chrome. Of course the chrome is doing very well but the slide has wear along most of the edges. I have a GRP on order and I opted for the Diamond Black this time. Currently, if you order a Nighthawk the stock finish they will provide you with is black nitride, which is a similar process to using melonite, but you can still get permakote if you want. I’d provide you some pictures, but I’m about 7400 miles from home right now. I hope this helps.

I have a NHC Enforcer as my duty gun at work, and had it done with the diamond black. With daily carry in a safariland holster, it still looks like new. The only wear I’ve seen after a tad over 2 yrs is the bottom of the magwell, where the pistol rubs against the seat of the car. Its a great finish and worth the extra bucks. By way of comparison, I also ran a Kimber TLE for awhile. The finish on that was about as tough as krylon. The slide is more silver than black now.

I should have been less impulsive and done my research:(. I am tempted not to even shoot the thing when it comes in Tuesday and rather send it off for refinishing. Even though it’s FDE Permakote is 100% I shoot the snot out of my guns so it’s gonna wear fast and I am not sure I want to deal with it. Going on a month long vacation maybe I’ll have it ionbonded FDE it looks pretty cool and I know that ionbond is tough stuff all my AR bolts are ionbonded.

This is just being impulsive in reverse. You should shoot the heck out of it and see how it wears. If it wears excessively for you, go ahead and have it refinished. You may even find that when the finish does start to wear it won’t be that much of an issue.

You’ve already laid down the money and it will be in your hands in a matter of days. Enjoy the gun and get familiar with it. There is always time to get it refinished later.

Yea, get it and shoot it. Mine wore very quickly, but no harm. I have plans to have redone, but might some day.

My NHC 10-8 has noticeable holster wear to the Perma Kote finish but it hasn’t affected it’s function one iota.

Have 2 enforcers one with permacoate the second with diamond black. My permacoate gun has worn around the muzzle but that is from being carried in kydex. It is barely noticeable and to me gives it some character. The color does wear but the under lying protection remains.

I would definitely get you gun and shoot that sucker before I worried about it. If it wears later on you can have NH refinish it in diamond black, but it definitely is not going to be a requirement. My new enforcer is being refinished in melonite which is what NH is switching too.

Why Did Larry Vickers have them stop building guns with his name on them?

Just sayin’
