Please Dont Shoot The Rookie...

Ok, I know its a dumb question (didnt Einstein say there were no dumb questions?) but I am going to replace my iron sights with a MTAC on PERP and need to ask it anyway. So here goes, after removing the handle and old iron sight do I just have to slide the PERP on to the picatinny and dial in from there? How far forward or backward should it go on the rail or is it more about eye relief position? Am I missing something? I tried the simple and easy route but missed the side of the barn about 200 times!@!

Thanks much!@

I’ll give free medical advice in exchange for the dumb question answer!

If its a fixed sight I put mine on the last or second to last slot towards the shooter. It it’s a flip up sight I told it down and mount it where it does t hang past the U shape on the upper receiver while folded down.

Thanks Ken. I am actually installing a 1.5-6 scope on the rail using the Burris PERP mount. Thoughts?

OH well in that case I always just put the scope on my rifle where it’s still moveable. Get in your normal shooting position and move it back or forth until you get the proper eye relief. I have no idea if that’s how your supposed to do it though.

Mount it as far forward on the receiver as the eye relief allows.
Then mount a flip up back up iron sight behind/underneath it.
Zero both independently.
