Mainly HD, but I’d like to take it out to the range. Hopefully also to take to a class.
I also have a DDM4V5, so this won’t be my only one.
I wanted something a bit lighter but I also wanted something with a monolithic upper. And I wanted to try putting one together myself.
Well, at least the lower. Upper will have to be sent out to get the brake pinned.
Some background, I live in NJ so I’ll have to get a brake pinned to any barrel anyways, so why not go as short as I can go.
I guess I’ve been lurking on this site long enough to know that I should’ve put this up in the first post.
A couple changes along the way.
Specs ended up being:
Mega Arms Monolithic Modular Upper - Rifle length
Centurion Arms CHF 14.5" barrel
Vltor Lo-pro gas block
Battle Comp 1.5 (to be pinned by ADCO)
LMT M16 BCG
BCM CH
Mega Billet Lower GTR-3H Ambi
DD LPK
Geissele SD-C
BAD Ambi Safety
Norgon Ambi Mag Release
Magpul MIAD
Magpul CTR
I can’t take credit for the 2-tone MIAD. I saw a picture somewhere and I thought it was interesting.
Here in the People’s Republic of New Jersey, its hard to get out to a decent range. The only decent priced public outdoor range is over an hour and a half away.
I really need to get out of NJ.
Hopefully some time this month I can get out there and get this baby zero’ed. I’ve been stock piling some ammo for a trip.
Theoretically it should be about 6lbs 14 ozs.
I’ll need to find a scale to do an actual weighing, because I’m really curious too. Hopefully I’ll do this soon.
I used the following method to “pin” the stock.
I can’t really speak to the legality of it.
It makes sense to me, since I can’t get the stock to move without a hammer and punch.
If I get thrown in jail, I’ll let you know.
Nice, never seen it done that way. It’s a blurry law at best anyway. Just don’t give anyone a reason to look that close. I have a rifle built just for NY. and NJ. so I feel your pain.
