PK Firearms/Sabre Upper assembly update

Hi Guys,
For those of you that remember the thread I started asking about PK firearms, I thought I would give an update. I asked about the quality of Sabre uppers and if anybody could share their experience with PK Firearms. A few people who had dealt with them gave feedback (all positive from actual customers) but most of the thread turned into speculation on pricing, etc. by people who had never dealt with PK Firearms. This is my first AR build so I’m doing my research and I spoke with Paul at PK today for about 20 minutes and he was very patient, taking the time to answer all my questions. He offered to send me an upper assembly for free to prove his product quality because of what had been implied in these forums.

He buys barrel assemblies (gas block/front sight included) and upper receivers (entire receiver including port door and forward assist) from Sabre Defence. He then installs RRA gas tubes and generic handguards. Sabre doesn’t make handguards or gas tubes - those are outsourced. He has an order of 50 middy barrels coming from Sabre and I’m getting one of them with the Sabre upper receiver without a BCG (I’m using an LMT standard BCG). I will keep you guys posted on how this works itself out but I’m pretty confident after talking with Paul that I will be more than satisfied. This guy is serious about maintaining a good reputation. More to come…

Definitely keep us posted. I’m interested in those Sabre midlengths he has.
Just yesterday in the mail I recieved my second upper from PK, a Bushmaster superlight barreled A1 upper. I got it in 3 days. It looks great, I am putting it on a factory Bushmaster lower with a Denny’s super duty CMT BCG in it. Can’t wait to shoot it. If it shoots anything like my first upper from PK (a superlite barreled flat-top I put on a factory complete Stag lower) I’ll be highly satisfied.

I went to PK’s shop last year to pick up my RRA. Very nice people to deal with.

The only thing I miss about moving out of Illinois is that I’m not able to go to their shop anymore.

I didn’t get into the last one. I have 2 from PK’s Mine are the CMT uppers. I have about 2k trouble free rounds through one and about 1500 same same through the other. One has a 9" Troy, Crane stock and Aimpoint, the other an A1 stock and standard hg’s//ch. They’ve been shot heavy and hot with no issues. When you talk to Paul, feel free to mention me(the guy who’s usps money order was lost by the PO and I called PK’s daily) had to go through the recovery from the po to get a refund. I had th ebolts, I can’t remember if they’re CMT/Stag or the FN contract ones.

Anyhow, good to go.

Mark

Glad to hear you are being taken care of by PK. Thats a pretty stand up thing to do so you know there is no BS in their business. Yeah that last thread turned into a freak show rather than giving you the advise you wanted. Accordingly you made a call and got all your answers. Good on you and I hope you enjoy your rifle. Waiting for your update!!!

Paul is one of the “good guys” of the firearms business. I’ve known him about 10 years and have alway been treated with the utmost courtesy and fairness. It’s a shame I don’t live closer, but then again…I’d be divorced and very, very broke!:stuck_out_tongue:

Any updates?

Yes - I received an upper assembly 5 days after it shipped and everything looks good. Sabre 16" middie barrel with standard midlength handguards and Sabre M4 cut flattop upper receiver. Receiver is clearly marked “Sabre Defence” but the logo is not painted white like the factory assembled uppers which I expected as the receiver and the barrel were manufactured by Sabre and assembled by PK. The barrel is marked “CMV 1/7 5.56 NATO”

I am waiting for an LMT BCG and lower parts kit from another vender (PK does not carry LMT BCG right now) to finish the gun and I will let you know how it shoots.
