Piston Uppers for SBR

I am looking at a few Piston Uppers from LWRC PSD, POF 9.25, and Barrett Rec 7 PDW. This is for a SBR build that I am doing. Any thoughts from the forum as to which platform is good and why. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have/had a 12" MRP and a PSD 8" 6.8. The MRP was a great gun and a wonderful system, it’s just not for me.

I’ve never owned a POF or a Barrett piston gun, though I have a lot of experience with the 98b and M107. I’ve handled the Rec 7 a couple times and it’s weight and rail left something to be desired (*EDIT - I was thinking of their 16" 5.56). Not sure about the PDW but it looks similar to the PSD.

I currently run all DI guns and probably won’t go back. I’m glad I owned them for the learning experience, but I don’t see myself owning any more and wouldn’t do it over again. They are heavy, front sight bounces a hair more and don’t have any real advantage. I don’t mind cleaning a DI bolt every now and then and I can’t remember the last time I handled one immediately after shooting while it was still hot.

If you feel you’ll see an advantage, by all means go for it. If I had to get another, I’d go with the LMT MRP again so I can run both DI and piston. The LWRC is ok, but I wouldn’t have gone with LWRC if it wasn’t for the 8" PSD in 6.8.

Good luck.
