Is there a good place to send my upper to get it pinned, or do most people find a gunsmith in their area and take it to them? I’d like it to look as factory as possible. And what price range am I typically looking at?

Another vote for adco. Very clean, and secure. They assembled my whole upper and it’s solid so far. My brother had a custom build from them as well that has been good. Good people who seem to take pride in their work.

In my previous post, I linked each companies website page that deals with this specific service. I don’t think BCM will take one back to pin the MD. They also will not pin a device that isn’t listed on their site as an option. They have recommended ADCO to me before, when I asked via email.
Not following, maybe a hint? (Maybe I’m just brain fried and not seeing it)
Gunsmith or Welder. There are plenty of pics floating around of what they can do to a pin and weld job. This isn’t aimed at every single gunsmith or welder out there, just the vast majority.

$30-40 to pin a steel muzzle device? Seems kinda spendy for steel.

As opposed to? Especially after viewing the hall of shame thread, I’ll gladly drop $40 to have it done right, especially since I’m adding a silencer down the road.
I’d do a steel or stainless one for 20, Inconel for 60 depending on the base alloy, titanium for 85.

Just to throw in options: I have had Adco and Weapon Outfitters do work for me. I would do WO or rainier(entirely based off reputation). Adco is fine, but ADCO is the place where I had the worst customer service from a communication and user standpoint. (keep in mine I do that as part of my living so I’m extremely critical.) It was acceptable all things considered.
I’ve heard absolute praise or absolute hate about ADCO. Seems like they usually do great work though. Might send a barrel to them for reprofile

I had two excellent experiences with Adco. Both times, I had my part back to me within a week (including shipping time).
Weapon Outfitters does excellent work and has fast return times
