While it surprises…no, it’s Chicago, so it really doesn’t.
“I think the general public will be alarmed by it and wonder if people have been allowed to bring guns to school in the past,” Nolan said. “I have no knowledge of guns ever being in this building,” she said of her 22 years with the school district.
“I would have appreciated something more subtle, yet still recognizable — a logo, perhaps, not a gun,” Nolan said.

If they did something intelligent regarding guns I’d actually be stunned.
I can remember having several rifles in my car in 83 in the school parking lot with a couple ammo cans. Used to be easier to go straight to the range from school than go home and get my stuff and drive back. ARs, HK93s and 91s and never a single issue.
In 79 I remember my brother having a trunk full of shotguns because he was going hunting after school and showing them to the principal of the school because he was thinking about buying the same Remington 1100 and wanted to check it out when he learned my brother had one.
Want to know what NEVER happened in that Iowa or Florida school? A school shooting. Not once, ever. Of course we didn’t fill our schools with gangs, drug dealers and other people who belong in jail. Not that places like Chicago will ever figure out things like that or tell people their children are gang members, drug dealers, etc. and are not allowed in the school.
Really guys, it’s just not Chicago. The so called educators/administrators with like minded paranoias are en masse in cities like Seattle, Portland, Denver, SF, LA, Houston, Detroit, Minneapolis, NYC, Boston, D.C., Atlanta, etc. Give an inch, and these peckerheads take the whole mile. They’re everywhere and breeding like rats. I can only hope that they succumb to disease or crime. Nothing else works.
We know that. But with Chicago being the current murder capital you’d think they’d catch on.

Her logic is almost funny. It is bothersome, but not for the same reason.
I graduated HS in 82 and during HS had a shotgun or rifle in my vehicle most every day from the beginning of hunting season to then end of it. Most of my friends did also. You could drive through the school parking lot and se rifles and shotguns hanging in the back of quite a few trucks. It was like that all over town in most every school. Never had a single school shooting or anyone go bonkers about it. Teachers also didn’t put up with any of the crap from students they have to now. Teachers still had paddles sitting on their desks and students that acted out ended up in the hall getting their butts beat. Didn’t see that happen too much back then.
