I went to Doug’s to get a black MIAD for my LMT Piston SBR and snapped a couple of pics of “my” FDE Enhanced ACR, which arrived on Tuesday.
I haven’t taken ownership of it yet, because I am on the fence on if I really want it or not. The owners are good guys and gave me till tomorrow to make up my mind, despite there being a list of people in line behind me waiting on this gun.
It’s a good looking gun. There are some things I like, and some things I dont like.
I am legitimately torn. The $2550 price is an issue.
Well, if it aint gonna cause any financial hardships, I would say go for it. If you dont buy , I just may, lol. But really, its a good lookin gun. Buy it and enjoy it. Then post us some pics and a range report.
EATLEAD
While my interest in the ACR has certainly waned post-release, I think I’d rather have the “enhanced” stock and the “basic” forend. Or maybe at least the modular forend seen on some guns pre-release.
price isnt too bad considering what the coyote enhanced is going for on gunbroker. I saw one go for 2900. Apparently theres at least 5x more black ones than coyote. A local dealer quoted me a little over 2400 for a coyote enhanced before tax on one. One of the better prices I’ve seen but I feel that it will drop down even more in a few months.
There will be more. You can always wait and buy one after the initial rush. I usually find that if I buy something that I’m on the fence about, I’ll later wish I had bought something different or bought it cheaper.
The LMT piston is a damned fine product. Its part of the reason why I didnt rush out and get the enhanced ACR right away.
Once I get around to ordering my KAC lower, I will have a piston based, 100% ambi carbine, that is multicaliber, with monolithic rail and and QD barrel…If nothing else, it proves with a little planning the AR15 can hold its own against new carbine
Yesterday as I finger banging both, I found I actually preferred my LMT
I’d rather have the folding stock and the basic forearm. I guess I’m a little bummed out that for that amount it doesn’t even included the threaded blackout flashhider like it looked like it would.
Compared to the SCAR and the basic ACR I don’t think the pricing is terrible. But I’m one of those that like to try different styles of firearms. I’m a long time AR guy that likes to get out of the box some.
I (personally) could at least consider the enhanced ACR, but never the basic.
If you’re on the fence it might serve you better to wait until the price comes down a little so you won’t loose as much if you decide to sell.
From my point of view I’d like you to grab it, so I can read your posts about it.
A local gun store was telling us about the pricing for the folding stock and railed hand guard and it was only a couple hundred dollars, I forgot the exact amount though. I’d just the basic and add the stock later if I were to buy an ACR.
2500 seems a bit much…I’d wait until the price comes down a bit.
Didn’t you decide to drop the SCAR for the MRP because you didn’t foresee parts support? (Part of the reason why my SCAR remains a range toy too BTW) I know a lot of parts are interchangeable with AR’s but not some of the critical ones. I think it might be best just to wait a bit instead of dropping large coin on another rifle which you may or may not like in a month.
We got one in at the shop the other day. That price is a damn good price. Dealer wholesale is a bit over $2400. Your shop is probably just trying to dump it.
I for one was not impressed. The stock folds but doesn’t lock, the cheekpiece riser is a total piece of crap, the “retractable” stock requires release buttons be pressed from both sides. For some retarded reason the railed fore end on the enhanced model is shorter than the plastic handguard on the basic model. It’s still front heavy and I guess the shorter rail was to lighten it up some.
I’ll go ahead and say I doubt I’ll ever own one. Like Shivan said, there is a LOT cooler shit you could buy for that kind of coin.
