I doubt I will find the other stuff, but you never know. I have been able to locate an original Colt bolt carrier as well as an older style firing pin. I wish I could have raided a bolt from some of those old DRMO guns.

This carrier and firing pin is most likely from a Colt model 601. The carrier key is the full rounded type. Notice it is staked at the top only, with one location at each screw. The Model 601 was produced from late 1959 up to 1963.
You can also see the lack of forward assist notches and the difference in the firing pin retaining pin hole.

Yes they did. Additionally, the 601, 602, 605, and 607 used the early chrome slickside BCGs with a firing pin like the one in the OPs pic.

Not sure to be honest. But, if you look at the old B&W photos from the AR-10 you will see that firing pin.
It was allegedly replaced after reports of slam fires when chambering rounds. I also read there was no proof to substantiate it, but it was changed nonetheless.

Nice find. Just imagine though, if some one got a BCG from PSA, AIM, or brand x/flavor of the month with a key staked like that how much crying foul there would be.
Well considering the age of the carrier and the fact it was done before all the kinks were worked out its acceptable. It also more than like has Permatex underneath.
As for anyone else doing it. We are now in 2015 and understand the importance of staking and why there was a change.

Very Coo IG! The DRMO gun our PD recived was an early one with a serial number in the 330,000 range it is marked AR-15. It must have been upgraded while in storage. It looked like it had never been issued. It had a BCG in it with the groves for a Fa but the upper was a slick side.
Now you have gone and done it. Since you have some parts, you have to build a rifle around it.
I know more than one build of mine has started that way! That A1 9mm upper in my parts collection has started sprouting parts. Waiting to buy the right on a dedicated 9mm lower.
Thanks to all my travels, I was recently able to acquire an original chromed bolt assembly and the original style pistol grip screw which had a hole in the fillister head for lockwire as it was an off the shelf aviation screw.
