I apologize ahead of time, but I wanna know what it would look like. I would like to run this setup when my stamp gets back, so please help? What im going to use is a BCM 11.5 upper, but I want to run some kind of 11" ff rail system. I also want to use a Noveske KX3 muzzle device. Will it work? What does it look like? If you guys got any pics, or info, let me know please.
Thanks,
Brandon
I did a Google search and found a few threads from guys here on
M4C and who frequent M4C like StickMan. I find a straight Google search gives me the best result.
I will ask because it’s going to come up. Why are you looking for the Pig? It’s heavy and you might be better off with a longer bbl saving weight, adding velocity. It is a specialty device and certainly has its niche.
Good luck with your project.

Thanks usmcvet, not just for the info, but also for your service to our country.
If you dont mind, humor me on this. The purpose of this build is for home defense. It will only be used inside my house. Do you think their is a better option, minus a supressor? I would greatly appreciate any info on this.
I would go with a Battle Comp. Just be aware that no matter what you put on there, short of a suppressor your ears are going to be in for treat with any SBR that you fire indoors.
I have two AR’s now and a naked lower in search of an upper. I have a 10.5" and a 11.5" gun with Q2 flash hiders. There is a battle comp on my 10.5" work gun. I’ve never owned the Pig but my understanding is it will help with reliability on shorter bbls this should not be an issue for you with an 11.5" Carbine.
The Pig will also make you more popular when shooting on line at the range, with friends or in a class. The shorties are Loud and Obnoxious. With that said if real over the ear hearing protection is used its ok. Foam ear plugs are a no go for me when flanked by a pair or 10.5" guns. Call me a wimp but it hurts.
So for your set up I would say the Pig may not be necessary because you’ve chosen a 11.5" bbl. A great choice in my opinion and many alot more knowledgeable than me ie Paul the owner of BCM.
If you’re using your gun in HD it going to be loud but my limited experience is you won’t notice a few shots. A Can is an awesome option but civies can not have them here in VT. A 12.5" Kink upper from BCM is something I’ve wanted for a while too. I would go that route before I choose a Pig for my HD gun.
People buy stuff attime because it looks cool. I try to make that a nice bonus but not the focus.
A quality flash hider. Pair that with low-flash ammunition. A KX3 increases back pressure, allowing for more reliable cycling with a short barrel. A properly configured 11.5" setup doesn’t need it.
So would a battlecomp 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 be the best option in your guys opinions?
I’m about to switch the BC 1.0 off my 16" build and put it on my 11.5" setup. The 1.5 is slightly longer for the guys with 14.5" builds. The 2.0 is for suppressor quick connect (Gemtech Halo I think).
My BCM 11.5 upper has run flawless, I wouldn’t worry about needing the KX3.
Nice screen name BTW. ![]()
LOL, thanks for the info. Im gonna go with the 1.0 then.
here’s a man with sound discernment, who recognizes wisdom when he sees it… and heeds it.
the battlecomp is a game changer. having never actually used a KX3, i can’t say how well it works- but i can guarantee it doesn’t work well enough to void the other benefits of the battlecomp.
The battle comp is freaking awesome and the guys who are selling them are top notch too. Alan is a member here. The battle comp will help you with rapid follow up shots it works as advertised. I want a few more myself. ![]()
Since the OP mentioned this is for use only in his house, these things seem for sure to me (without ear pro), regardless of muzzle device.
-Huge concussion and possible temporary confusion
-Temporary severe hearing loss
-permanent long term hearing damage, possibly severe
any time you exceed your ears threshold, you’ll have some degree of permanent hearing loss. but not necessarily noticeable. it’s not a guaranty that you’ll have noticeable hearing loss just because you blast some asshole in your house, and if you do, it’s still likely to be minor, and if it’s not, is your life not worth it?
and i don’t know where this misconception that firing inside a house is worse than firing elsewhere comes from. if you have hardwood floors, sparse furniture, and smooth walls, probably- but most people have carpet, furniture, textured walls and ceiling, shit hanging on the walls, etc- all of these things absorb sound. without getting into it, i’ve had occasion to fire two rounds of .45acp from a 3.5" barrel while standing just inside the doorway between a bedroom and residential hallway without earpro- all carpeted with textured walls and fully furnished… no tinnitus, no noticeable hearing loss (though we all know there had to have been some, to some degree). counter that with firing the same weapon once while standing over gravel without hearing protection- i almost dropped the weapon, it hurt so bad. i had tinnitus and temporary loss for two days.
all of this said, i’ve fired a 10.5" with a battlecomp 1.0 over grass without hearing protection… it was very loud, and i did have minor tinnitus and noticeable temporary hearing loss, but suffered no noticeable permanent hearing loss (again, as above) and was fine in a few hours. accidentally left my earpro on the table behind me…
is it possible you’ll go permanently and totally deaf from blasting a short barrel inside without hearing pro? certainly… but very unlikely.
Well, I keep a set of surefire sonic defender plus with my weapon, dont know if ill grab them when I hear that “bump” in the night, but they are there. Its a little too late though, I already made the decision to go with the battlecomp 1.0, and I will order in the morning.
I wanna thank everyone that chimed in.
Thanks again,
Brandon

And of course, there’s always auditory exclusion. The main problem bring it doesn’t effect everyone in the same way. Me? I don’t even recall hearing the shots when done in close-quarters. Others are negatively effected. shrug
Perception is reality…you may not perceive the intensity of the blast. Regardless, it does not preclude you from having severe damage occur to the ossicles, hair cells and tympanum!
