Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that he and President Donald Trump want to “bring the warrior culture back to the Department of Defense.”
“He, like me, wants a Pentagon laser focused on warfighting, meritocracy, standards, and readiness. That’s it,” he said during his confirmation hearing earlier this month, later adding that “[u]nlike the current administration, politics should play no part in military matters.”
Hegseth was confirmed by the Senate on Friday evening, but only by the narrowest of margins with Vice President JD Vance having to cast the deciding vote for a 51-50 margin.

Noem earned the requisite number of votes from senators Saturday and was confirmed with a vote of 59-34. Former Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida was confirmed to be Secretary of State in a unanimous vote Monday and former Fox News Host was confirmed as Secretary of Defense 51-50 Friday night, with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote.
It’s nothing less than insulting that both Collins and Murkowski voted for left-wing lunatic Ketanji to be on the Supreme Court, yet vote against Trump’s pick for defense secretary.
Have at it gentlemen. If you can figure out how to get rid of Murkowski, I’m all ears. She’s in the pockets of so many special interest groups that she’s tough to beat. Hell, she’s one of only two Senators to ever win a write in campaign after the one and only time she got beat in the primary. There hasn’t been a serious contender running against her since then.
