People That Post Their Gun Collection In Their Forum Signature

This is for those people who post the half a dozen guns they own in their forum signature:

You look like a fucking douche. Stop doing it. You aren’t impressing any of us. Some of us own hundreds of firearms and we don’t post the list on the internet. Nobody gives a damn about your list and you shouldn’t give a damn about ours.

All it does is break up the flow of the forum when we have to scroll through you text lines in your signature. It is obnoxious.

Some people feel the need to advertise their house as a prime target for robbery the same as they do by putting expensive car stereo brand stickers on their car. They feel that it signals to others that they have money–to me, it says they HAD money until they spent it.

I can understand why somebody “might” do it.

It’s popular on HKPro and I guess the logic is you know who you are talking to. For example if they list every 90 series rifle they can probably give you a reliable answer to your question about the HK91. And if they list half a dozen clones you probably don’t want to take their advice on your factory original MP5.

Of course the problem with that is like everything else on the internet that person could be full of shit. I know a couple guys personally who are passing off their Vector clone pistols as factory original HK machine guns. Even worse they are imparting gun knowledge about firearms they have never owned.

So for that reason alone it is pointless regardless of intention.

Just disable viewing of signatures in your User CP, Scott.

I do think it is dumb - for other reasons. Why advertise exactly what you have in one handy, publicly visible list?

Some feel that way about posters that add a “quote” that THEY think is witty or cool.

Only thing I find to be even higher up the douche bag scale is people who intentionally post flipant remarks to start shit.
