Pending Finger Print Analysis...

On my KAC NT4 QDSS. Been pending finger print approval by the FBI since Feb 9th.

Is this in any way normal or par for the course? Every time I ask that to the NFA office they get defensive as hell and just hang up on me “Go back to waiting.”

I’m concerned the FBI may have lost the prints, but every time I bring it up they just give me attitude and hang up.

I’m not worried about the wait, I know they’re backed up, but I know they can also leave stuff in limbo because something’s been lost or screwed up on their end. Sorry for any frustration. Thanks for any help.

70-90 days is not unusual right now. I have had Form 4s coming back in that time frame from different NFA examiners.

Also, I spoke with my NFA examiner yesterday. She said that in the last 60-90 days there has been a large increase in the amount of forms they have been receiving. So transfer times may take a bit longer to get approved. I have also noticed that my recent Form 3s are taking up to 45 days, looks like they may take a bit longer also.

I think my only option is to just hold tight and keep waiting. I’m just surprised it’s backed up at the FBI.

I would have thought things would have eased up since the rush last december.

it also doesn’t help that fingerprint background checks are suspended from the 28th till may 3rd for fingerprint processing of 484,000 census bureau workers, which would add to your wait even more…if it’s not lost

Oh thanks for installing Doubt 2.0!

Don’t worry. The FBI is screwing everything up and the NFA examiners are just as frustrated as we are. I had one last year that went pending the print analysis on May 21 and did not get back to ATF till September 2nd. Examiner Clutter stated to me last year that they were attempting to find another source for the fingerprint analysis but I guess that fell through…

But again don’t worry just have patience…

Thanks for the reply. I have a feeling everything is good to go, just taking FOREVER. Considering my CLEO has basically made sign off impossible I just want to get this Can approved and move to trusts for all future purchases. :frowning:

Waiting on the FBI for fingerprint analysis is nothing new. Lots of folks get their CCW in Florida without an actual check since the FBI fails to get back to the state in a timely manner. The state has 90 days to grant (will issue) your CCW unless they find a problem. Waiting on the FBI doesn’t qualify as a problem with you. :frowning:

Looks like I’ll have a long wait since my paperwork went in this month.

your doing the right thing by calling, now you just wait. Last time I was not calling and just being patient, went 3.5 months and a Pawn Shop called me with the owner telling me that his wife was going through the files and found my Form 1 with a bunch of his in their filing cabinet and how lucky I am that she did that since they never go through them when they get them back. I was approved aroudn 40 days earlier

If you put the standard reason, for any and all legal,. Disregard this.

But if you put a reason your examiner doesn’t like, it could be held up indefinitely for FBI fingerprint, been there, done that.

Talk to your dealer, you might be able to get ahold of your examiners E-Mail addy.

Reason was “For any and all lawful purposes”

Standard non-offensive boiler plate. All my ATF forms have used that reason on the form.

So I go back to the wait!

66 days from mailbox to mailbox for the 10.5, Isaac… you should just register all future NFA items through my corp.

That’s a huge can of worms of liability.

All the more reason for a properly done NFA trust- no fingerprints, no CLEO signoff…
