From time to time I like to venture to leftist/liberal/progressive sites to see what the other half are up to. Over the last couple of years here there have a been a few of us discuss the azimuth we are on and how what was once considered repugnant is now socially acceptable.
I present to you a piece from the fine leftest of Salon.com . . .
I’m a pedophile, but not a monster
I’ve been stuck with the most unfortunate of sexual orientations, a preference for a group of people who are legally, morally and psychologically unable to reciprocate my feelings and desires.
Because the powerful taboo keeps us in hiding, it’s impossible to know how many non-offending pedophiles are out there, but signs indicate there are a lot of us, and too often we suffer in silence. That’s why I decided to speak up.
Now I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism that I’ve never used and I’m living well below the poverty line, existing on food stamps and the couple hundred dollars I manage to scrape together every month, sometimes augmented with financial help from my parents if the bills get too high. I tried filing for disability over my arm and my emotional issues, but that was a no-go in my conservative Southern state. This is what a law-abiding pedophile has been reduced to in this society.
Ethan and his friend Nick Devin founded Virtuous Pedophiles on the notion that pedos needed an alternative to those other forums, a place where they can feel comfortable and get the support they need without the pressure to support sketchy views about adult-child sex.
For better or worse—mostly worse—we have this sexuality, and unlike with most sexualities, there is no ethical way we can fully actualize our sexual longings.
So, please, be understanding and supportive. It’s really all we ask of you. Treat us like people with a massive handicap we must overcome, not as a monster.
If he recognizes it, never acts on it, seeks help for it, and knows he must follow the rule of law and of decency regardless of his orientation, than I’d accept his breathing air.
Anything but that, and he’s a monster in human skin and removal of air supply, life in prison, etc the only options.
What consenting adults do in between them is none my business. Pedophilia is not between consenting adults therefore can never be an acceptable behavior in any society that respects and values of Basic Human Rights, Liberty, and Freedom. Never.
Some worry about slippery slopes. There’s no slope to me, and a very clear demarcated line regarding such issues.
I also think the age of consent should be raise in some states. There are still states where girls as young as 13 (NH?) can get married and that’s pretty damn repugnant too yet stands on the books (seemingly) uncontested.
Like I told you in a previous thread, labeling it as a disease is the first step to legitimacy. Pedophiles are no more diseased than thieves, rapists, and murderers. They are simply criminals with a predilection for an exceptionally horrific crime.
It’s not a matter of size, it’s attraction to an undeveloped child. Part of it is intimidation by a sexually mature partner because pedophiles are often sexually immature psychologically. Part of it is the same dominance psychology associated with rape and the destruction of a victim who cannot defend themselves. There is also the deliberate psychological destruction of the victims childhood and innocence.
And a of course the other big part is people who are just broken and truly are “monsters” that live to destroy the innocent.
You could take the above salon article and substitute “serial killer” for “pedophile” and make the same argument for people who suffer from “unfortunate desires” that society doesn’t understand.
I interviewed enough of these scumbags to last me ten life times. I don’t accept their frame of mind as a disease. They are weak willed people preying on those who cannot protect themselves.
The only evidence I have seen that any of them were rehabilitated was in the form of a death certificate.
A moral compass does not exist in the U.S. any longer.
This is more of a statement and not meant to run the thread a drift:
I’m curious how many Pro-abortion folks (here and country wide) have issues with pedos? In other words, Not protect kids or do protect kids? When does a child become eligible for societies protection?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not condoning the actions/thought process of some twisted phoque but I find it interesting how this over here is OK and that over there is bad.
These are the people who crawl out from the slime when civilizations clash.
When the reset comes as it must, they will act on their fantasies in the chaos.
When caught flagrant delicto treat them as our predecessors would have.
I firmly believe that pedophiles who act on their FUBAR urges should be disemboweled in public and allowed to have rats gnaw on their innards (or whatever they want to gnaw on) while they die a slow and painful death.
Im with Will on the whole they can live so long as they don’t act on their impulses. For me its the act that counts not the thought. God knows we have all thought about throat punching someone over the last few days or hours depending on your frame of mind, but I’m not going to propose that we should be in jail for assault.
I am also with Moose on his concern for the welfare of society. The mere fact that a publication can publish that drivel sickens me more that the POS because it is setting precede of acceptance for this kind of FUBAR thinking. Teen pregnancy used to be banished and ostracized. Now we have broken families and an epidemic of societal issues related to an acceptance of the practice. NOT a good thing.
We should sponsor a support group for pedophile wanna be’s: Free trip to Asscrackistan and see how long they last.
I understand the sentiment. However, I prefer not to assign the label of monster, ghoul, or any other supernatural title to these criminals. While their crimes are horrific, the rest of their lives is actually very pathetic. Take the author of that article as an example. He lives off his parents, can’t hold a job, and has failed at every turn in life. The guy personifies loser. Yet, guys like him yearn to be needed and feel important. That is why he wrote the article and a small part of why he abuses people who are smaller and vulnerable. Many of these pathetic losers want to share their exploits to feel empowered - hence the tendency to swap videos. They get off on the power imbalance. Notice how he blames others for all of his problems. Guys like him can’t cope with the notion that they are pathetic and small. They actually relish terms like monster because it means that they are significant or worthy of being feared.
Thus, I prefer to think of them as just common criminal; the kind of person that you’d put a bullet in and not even think to mention it to your spouse when she asked how your day went.
Bingo! 20yrs ago, Homos were making the same argument, look how that turned out. This is nothing more than the dipping of the toe in the pool… In 20yrs (provided we have a country left) I predict the SCOTUS will hand down a ruling that pedo’s can marry their favorite 5yr old…
