I just called Remington, trying to order the steel extractor for my 870( not to replace my perfectly working MIM one, but as a back up) and it was out of stock. I told the rep that I have read testimonials that some people who have installed this part in their express models have had the inside of the receiver scratched or damaged from the rubbing of the extractor on the inside of the receiver. I then asked him if it was a drop in part and he said “no”. its not machined to fit in that bolt or something like that.
He said that it is a gunsmithing part and that it would need to be properly fitted. he did say that the carrier dog spring was a drop in part. Has anyne had this experience with trying to drop this part in?
