I’m thinking about doing a monthly subscription to Panteao to kill some of the late hours on nights this winter. I’ll be watching on an iPad. Has anyone had any problems watching the vids. Don’t want to sign up to find an issue with flash or something.
IRC they don’t work on Apples products currently (I believe it is a flash issue). They are supposed to be fixing that however.

They have an app in development that should be releasing soon. I suggest you get the yearly membership.
O
I wouldn’t buy any video subscription from them unless and until it works with iOS. And not just a promise down the road.
Seems to me that they had other video production problems…something about volume levels. Now they have a video channel that wont work with a iPad? Hmm…
Hmac - not sure where you are getting your information from. We have not had “video production problems”. If the audio level is higher for the chapter markers than the instructional chapters themselves, I wouldn’t call that a “problem”. We have already adjusted the sound level for our chapter markers on current and future titles in order to address the few complaints we received about that.
With regards to the video channel, YES it DOES work with Apple products. I was at SHOT Show checking on the website using an iPad 2. Our video player, which we implemented some time ago, gave us the ability of playing the videos on mobile devices. The reason we are implementing the App is in order to make navigating through our videos easier when using a phone or tablet. With 43 instructional videos, 4 documentaries, countless pro-tips, and 10 videos for industry partners, an App is the way to go.
We have many more videos scheduled for 2013. We are excited over the titles and instructors.
As addressed by Fernando, this is incorrect. I had a monthly subscription and watched videos on my iphone through the web browser. No issues with video/audio. If I did have a complaint it would be that it was difficult (not impossible) to navigate to different chapters via iPhone. This was probably more of a function of the touch screen combined with the scroll bar used for chapter selection.
Bottom line is that the monthly subscription works with iPhone/Apple and it was worth every penny.
Great to know!!
I just cut the cord and cancelled my cable TV service. I signed up for Tac Tv and my goal was to look at Panteo this week.
Watching on iPhone and iPad, via Safari browser, is fine except skipping to chapters and there are no bookmarks on where you left off.
I am a monthly subscriber but not an ipad user. The sound is fine.
My complaint is the constant switching camera angles that miss the entire point the instructor is making in his demonstration. One of the latest examples is in the new Dave Spaulding video where he is demonstrating drawing the weapon from holster.
In his demo, the camera zooms to the holster on his waist, zooms to his shoulder, then zooms out showing the body for the extension of the weapon. Fancy editing, but zero instructional value from the demonstration! I’d rather have a whole body shot from the front showing the entire drawstroke.
That is just one example. I ususally end up yelling at the screen multiple times during a video. I don’t care about seeing the target when someone is showing how to clear a malfunction.
These are suppose to be instructional videos but whoever does the video editing seems to be focusing on entertainment. I get some value from them but it is really frustrating when much more could be gained if they just edited them in a more vanilla way and put themselves in the role of a student wanting to learn the material.
I kind of agree that it’s somewhat distracting to keep switching to different camera angles. At least, they should have one or two clips from just one angle where you can observe the full draw. Alternatively, put it in the “Extras”.
Dave Spaulding’s draw sequence below is shown more in the manner that you’re talking about.
do you have an AppleTV? You can airplay to your living room tv…a 55in Panasonic in my case, so you dont have to just watch on a 10in screen :dance3:
Yes to the Apple TV, AirPlay works great. I’m still working through my Tac TV subscription. My wife discovered Netflix and Hulu, so the TV has been a little tied up lately. I will definitely be subscribing to Panteo in the next few months.
Thank you all for the feedback. We are going to look into adding an option for online subscribers to be able to see additional footage from a video in a single camera continuous motion for techniques like drawing from a holster, reloading, etc. It can be bonus material that the viewer has the option to watch.
Thank you for the feedback. One thing we have learned is that we get the comments from both sides. If we do a closeup on a pistol because we are showing trigger reset, we get complaints if we don’t show the target. We are constantly working on improving our videos and feedback is always appreciated.
I am of the opinion that the technique is what is important to see, but we are not producing these videos for me. We are doing our best to cover every aspect. The joys of video production ![]()
That would be a big plus for online subscriptions.
Personally, another necessary feature would be bookmarks (by the user and automatic by the system) so that you know where you left off in each video and can resume at will.
