I’m going to paint my stripped lower soon and want to know if I will have any issues assembling it afterwards. I’m only worried about mags sticking or not dropping free and also trouble fitting the trigger and hammer pins. I tried searching with no answers to my question so I apologize if this is a duplicate thread. Thanks.
If it were me, I wouldn’t paint the inside.
Are you using spray paint or something more substantial like cerakote?
Doing the Rustoleum method. I want to paint inside to match. At least the mag well. No need to paint the shelf and inside where the trigger group goes I suppose. assuming I just paint the exterior, will I run into any issues upon assembly?
Do not paint the inside. That’s stupid. Even slight overspray in the mag well WILL cause mags to stick.

Once a mag is inserted, you’ll never know. Tape the inside of the mag well real good and it’ll look nice and uniform.
I painted my lower, the upper was on it, I put the mag in and made damn sure no paint got inside. It functions fine. Trigger and hammer pins come right out and back it. Mag functions fine, and do not paint the whole mag, like were its in the magwell.
I was gonna do that for the sake of having a matching mag and also to avoid a few more minutes of masking off the lower.

And no, you shouldn’t have any fitment issues with your fcg pins after painting.

I put tape over the top of the lower and I put the pins in place. Then I stick a POS mag in the well. Usually the grip is attached. Then I do light coats.
My 12 year old used duracoat to paint the cammo freehand. Everything was disassembled. The lower was not taped. While he focued on the outside he didn’t worry about a bit of over spray in the mag well or in the holes. Mags he painted just the cammo pattern on FDE plastic and just past the entrance to the well. The upper, was (actually I taped it) taped off the barrel area and everything inside. Threaded parts, barrel ends, gas tube/block and all parts were not painted.
Mags drop out, everything functions smoothly.

Acetone will take it right off if you have trouble.
