It needed new paint and this time I wanted something a little different. Tan base with brown effects. Used a laundry bag for the pattern. Not completely satisfied with it, as I didn’t take my time. I’ll probably re paint it here shortly.
i used krylon camo on mine too, worded nice! i didnt put a clear coat on though for that exact reason… i know what ya mean, my first paint job was with regular flat paint, and the camera made it shine real bad, but in real life it wasnt shiny at all… but the new krylon camo job just practically absorbs light into some kind of, black hole or something.
Yea I’m probably going to end up re-painting it. I went a little to heavy on the clear coat on the handguards, and they look alot lighter in person than the rest of it. But, live and learn.
took me three tries to get mine right, if you wanna darken it up some, use a little more brown, and mabey some green… i got pics of my rifle in both pics forums, used krylon cammo tan, brown, and green… applied in that order… it all depends your ao though, mines more of a swamp/woodland area.
It makes for a steadier stance. Instead of having it farther out where your arm is reaching way out, it keeps it close so you can keep a tighter profile. Actually I normally use the magwell.
missed the rest of it.
Moving the grip toward the muzzle DOES give more control, quicker target engagement and faster follow up shots. magwell hold and vert grips that close is considered bad form.
Currently, it’s preferred to them developing what many in the Corps think of as a nasty habit: putting your hand on the mag well itself, and therefore the magazine. Which, I know, has no real basis in fact, but it is what it is.
Some I know don’t even use their VFGs, but have them installed because they have an uber-moto SNCO (usually a Co 1stSgt with a masters-of-the-universe complex and more balls than brains) that has determined that, if it is an issued item, it will be attached. Also, when you’re wearing the bulk of a full assault load, “too far back” becomes pretty relative.
