I’ve used ceramic header spray paint, once it dries and the barrel heats up, it has always been very solid. BBQ spray is another easy alternative which works as well.

I think this pic might clarify where the coating was missing on my rifle.
I used to love painting guns, then I realized how sticky they got. Then I learned to not paint the furniture. Now I love arts and crafts again.

KBS Xtreme Temperature coating. Withstands up to 1200 and won’t peel blister or discolor, and it’s great against scratching and marring. It’s not cheap but it’s about as good as it gets in a spray can.
No. 4 weapons safety rules state I need to see my target and what’s beyond it.

I don’t know how I missed the backside of the fsb part. For some reason the mental leap warped it to the little gap between the rear of the fsb and the shoulder where the cap sits.

I quit building lowers and just started using LMT complete defender lowers some time ago. Wish I had bought Firefly’s 14.5 LMT upper a while back.
By the way, you weren’t wrong with the 6920 theme either. But you already knew that.

I shoot at night, a lot. Actually, not as much as I used to but at least once a month. Based on my discussions with people who actually own NV that still qualifies as “a lot”. Most guys are lucky to get trigger time in seeing green once or twice a year.
I needed a laser to shoot at night, so I needed a rail to put it on. I also needed a WML, and with the two I needed a tapeswitch to control them properly. I also needed a suppressor because gunfire at 2am attracts undesired attention, even in the darkest, most inaccessible reaches of the swamp. I wanted a short barrel because a 16" barrel plus a suppressor is unnecessarily long. Finally, while I never use passive NV (what’s pictured) I figured for an extra $1,000 for the PVS-14 mount and T2…why not? I got a graduate degree for a reason.
If I wasn’t shooting under NODs I would take a 6920 with Magpul MOEs 999 times out of a thousand. In fact, NVG setup notwithstanding, I would sell my entire firearm collection right now and only own a 6920 and a G19. I feel so passionately regarding the merits of a simple 6920 and G19 because I own and have owned so many other badass instagram worthy AR15 combinations, not because I haven’t.
That rifle has banged a 2" gong at 625 yards in a storm relatively consistently, shot a hog at as near as makes no difference 700 yards in the heart and dropped it where it stood but I took it to a PRS match last weekend and placed 16th out of 37 shooters because it’s so freakishly heavy. Several of the stages were to test your ability to shoot your rifle at “practical” distances of 100-300 yards while standing (which I did relatively well at even still), but that rifle isn’t the easiest sucks to hit 600 yard movers from in between the rungs of a shitty ladder in wind that is blowing from 2 opposite directions. I bet I could’ve placed ~20th or better with a 6920 and a 1-4x optic. Is 4 positions worth the additional $4,000?

I know you weren’t exactly asking for a rant, but I figured it’s my thread and I wanted to opine on a subject that I am very passionate about.
To internet rando’s reading this - Put Instagram down. Buy a 6920. Put a DD fixed rear sight and Magpul MOE handguards on it, and then put an Arisaka 300-series light in an IWC Scout Offset mount on the handguards. Get a Vickers sling and go shoot it until you start seeing bullets impacting the target sideways. Spend time not at the range with loved ones and laugh at your friends who have a down payment on a house invested in guns yet still spend all of their free time scouring SHOT show news for the latest kit.
That last paragraph is solid gold.
I do have to ask why do you feel so strongly about MOEs instead of just an IWC on the stock handguards?
Aha. That’s not what I was thinking you meant. When I pulled the gasblock to install a DD Mk18 RIS2, the barrel under the gasblock wasn’t phosphated.

I am somewhat suprised the handguard cap and FSB fit so closely together that it prevented the park. solution from flowing between them.
When I read the OP I thought Euro was painting the barrel under the FSB, and that had me scratching my head.

To be fair, LMT also does not park the barrel under the FSB but I included that for sake of simplicity.
