Has anyone ever painted Micarta material before? I recently received a set of Micarta panels and I’m not pleased with their coloring, supposed to be a OD but came out more like a Desert Tan. I am considering hitting them with some rattle can.
Paper Micarta, Linen or Canvas? If Linen or Canvas I suggest removing them, and mixing up the appropriate shade of RIT dye and attempting to darken them that way first.
The particular panels I have are Canvas. Thanks for the RIT suggestion as that didn’t even come to mind when I was pondering. 
Glad to help out. I know you can dye PMAGs, G10, and FRN, so I suspect canvas micarta would be just as easy.
Just finished changing the color of these Micarta handles on my BK-2 with a $1.69 worth of RIT die… worked great…

Looks good, those are the exact Micarta panels I was refering too. I got a set for my BK7. What did you mix yours with?
Dumped the contents of the RIT dye into a plastic Gladware bowl and filled it with hot water and stirred. Dipped the scales in and swooshed them around (Wear rubber gloves) for about a minute and laid them on a newspaper and let them dry for a min or two… checked the color… repeated the process until I got the shade I liked… let them dry over night and install.
I’m going with color 529. There site has a great resource of color pallets to help you choose what color you want to acheive and the combination of dyes to make it.
