General anesthesia.
However that’s impractical. If your pain in incompletely controlled, ask about a PCA (patient controlled anesthesia). Not sure what you have going there, but I’m kind of surprised they didn’t use a regional nerve block. That would be routine where I work.
I have to agree with Hmac. A regional nerve block should do it. I have used them before for extreme pain on patients with great success.
I had one myself when I had my shoulder worked on on and it worked great.
Never hurts to ask about it.
