Grant, those who are having problems and who are using Firefox as their browser might consider adding the Load Time Analyzer (link) plugin to their browser so that they can give you quantitative data to work with instead of just guesstimates.
Hope this helps.
Edit… I just realized that the author has not updated this for Firefox 3.0 yet. Older versions will still work.
Grant,
Same issue here as well. I just assumed that it was my crappy internet connection here in Baghdad. I am using IE not Firefox.
Yep,
this site has always run slow for me ever since i registered. Just took 2 minutes and 39 seconds from when i hit reply to when i was able to type.
Out of the 12 billion times I’ve refreshed this forum only had it slow for 30 mins 1 day. Other than that, by far the fastest forum I’ve been on. Even in pic heavy threads.
Firefox 3.0
Cable I-net
Thanks guys. Also when you post, please list the following:
Browser you are running and if you are running a high speed connection.

No problems here.
Firefox 2.0.0.15 - Hight Speed Connection - how fast I dunno I’m at work ![]()
Zero issues. ![]()
Comcast Cable
Internet Explorer 7.0
Firefox 3.0
No problems for me…
SuSE 11 (updated from beta)
Firefox
DSL at 8Mbps
No problems here.
IE 7.0
DSL
-RD62
I get the OD background then then it sits for about 15-20 seconds before the rest loads.
IE 7 with cable
M4C is one of the slowest loading sites, for me, on the net.
I use IE7 on 3 PC’s I use to access this site. DSL & T1
The quality is worth the wait. ![]()
The only times I’ve had issues, it’s been caused by one of the advertiser’s banners not loading properly. This is pretty common with big sites using 10+ sponsor banners simultaneously.
Otherwise, M4C is as fast for me as anything else.
Safari 3.1.2
Comcast residential cable high-speed internet, also from various Wi-Fi hotspots, hotels, etc.
IE 6.0, very fast, no issues.
No issues.
IE 7 with cable; sometimes IE 6
Incidentally, I’m one that noticed painful slowness back in M4C’s infancy. No issues in a long time however.
Sometimes the first load is ‘relatively’ slow compared to general fast load/refresh once on the site.
use IE7 with Comcast broadband at home and hispeed T1 at work.
Sometimes it is slow at my house, 1.2 DSL, IE 6 and IE 7. It is also sometimes slow at work 25+Mbps, IE 6.
Jeff
IE7
3.5 Mb DSL
Recently as in last month or so ive had slow loading issues (10-20 sec) escecially when loading the reply to thread screen, with that said i am computer maint. savvy and keep my pc clean on a daily basis.
Mainly what i see is a white screen for 10-20 sec, then once the background shows up the site loads in less than a second, photos or not. photos then load up pretty fast 2 0r 3 photos per second depending on size.
ETA ive always had problems wih sites from the left cost, portland being the worst.
Anyone else notice the majority of people with complaints are using IE?
Yep, I’d call that one a clue. ![]()
