I own a P99C AS in 9mm. It is my favorite gun. Unfortunately, I neglected its spring replacement schedule and the recoil spring broke after 3500 rounds. Waiting for a replacement from S & W.
He’s not lying. ![]()
Here’s mine. I was lucky enough to recently acquire a '99 model safe queen that had 10 rounds through it. No S&W for me! ![]()

MEMORANDUM
TO: SHIPWRECK
RE: THIS MONTH’S FLAVOR KOOLAID
To whom it may concern:
This month we are serving M&P. You may trade in your inappropriate plastic at the nearest reclamation center. If you are unsure where your nearest reclamation center is, please email the sender of this memorandum for his current home address.
Also, please have your TPS reports on my desk by 5, and plan on being here by Saturday. And give me your stapler.
That is all.
Hey Trio, you can try all you want to try to get him to kick his habit, but it will never work. He’s sick. You just have to accept him for that and move on. ![]()
damn…and here I was trying to get one of those pretty titanium P99s out of this! ![]()
Sorry dude. Ain’t nothin’ gonna replace my P99s. Ain’t gonna happen… ![]()
Actually, my 3 slides are hard chromed - BETTER than the titanium finish. Now they are holster wear proof…
As for the M&Ps, I’ve held a few, but still prefer my Walthers. Sorry…

I was looking into the P99C series at one time as a smaller daily carry compared to my current Kimber Warrior. Can the experts summarize all the different types of trigger configs and which are currently available? I remember getting swamped by websites with conflicting information and there was some thingie going on between S&W and Walther I never got into. That, and a host of other long arms I wanted to buy got me discouraged from looking into a smaller daily carry and I haven’t gone back into that realm yet.
There is a hugely popular Walther section at www.handgunforum.net - I could summarize a few things here, but honestly - every question U could have is covered there. Even videos on disassembly of the slide and other stuff.
The P99 was an excellent weapon for me. Makes are really nice carry gun for a lefty as there is no mag release button to bump.
The P99 is an interesting gun. It appears to have a good set of features, is a good size for concealed carry, yet you just don’t see very many. And forget about seeing them at IDPA matches, although along with the USP I’m not sure why.
We carry the SW99 at work and I cant until we get rid of them. The mag release isnt my favorite, the slide stop is too long (causes my thumb to rest on it and I never have a slide lock), the guns we got havent been terribly reliable, etc. AT least the magazine disconnects in ours do work all the time ![]()
I’ve got a p99 AS with 3000 rounds through it with out so much as a hiccup. I wish I could say the same for several of my other handguns. The one thing I have noticed, and perhaps some of you have too, the recoil spring assembly is developing a pretty good bow. It doesn’t/hasn’t seem to effect its preformance, but is something I’ve been wondering about.

 D’Oh!!!
