Other than Federal Lake City

Other than Federal Lake City 55gr, FMJ X193, can you all suggest a comparable manufacturer.

I have a 1/9 that the 55gr is for, and now a 1/7 also.

I have heard about Privi and is there a 55gr round that you can suggest for the 1/9 and 62gr round for the 1/7

Thanks in advance and have a great Holiday!

62grain will run fine in your 1/9.

I like Winchester Q3131, but I really don’t know how it compares to the XM193

There’s been problems reports of it in the past. But a few guys here are reporting that it’s trouble free. Some guys here even have stated that it’s their agencies duty round.

I shoot PRVI M193 in my 1/7 with no problems. Prvi also makes an M855 spec load if you want to stick with 5.56 pressure in a 62 grain. Otherwise Winchester is a good source for milspec M193/M855. Beyond that I think most other manufacturers loads are .223 pressure.

I found a whole bunch of it for $3.50-$4/ box a while back so that is why I like it.:o And it runs fine in my guns. I believe Q3131 is the Federal Bureau of Prisons duty round. I have no idea why they didn’t just use Lake City M193.

The ammo supply will catch up with the greed and hoarding?

All I want to do is buy some ammo to shoot, not hoard, and there is nothing left other than crap that will miss fire, or heavy grained bullets.

Can someone recommend a brand and where to buy it?

Wideners has PRVI M193 & M855 in stock last I checked, as well as a bunch of PRVI .223 loading in various weights.

Jay870,

Thanks, I found some Federal Lake City, and others!

Once again, thanks for the tip!

Federal XM193 is good ammo. I just finished firing about 1300 rounds of it through my 6920 at a Gunsite carbine class. No malfunctions and good accuracy. I plan to get some additional cases of it soon!

You heard right, the BOP uses Q3131. It works for us. When we got it a couple years ago, it replaced Federal Eagle .223 55gr., we had several misfires with it during Annual Training. It was enough that my buddy who is one of our Firearms Instructors mentioned it to me. One of the issues turned out to be the rifle, not the ammo, but I can’t remember what was wrong with it. We have M16A1s, M16A2s, and M16A2 Carbines (pre M4s with A1 uppers). All are Colts but there are a couple Vietnam era Harrington and Richardson M16A1s, very cool, didn’t know they even made those.
