Does anyone know who will be taking orders for LMT 308’s?
I ordered mine from a local gunshop that stocks LMTs. They didn’t even know the .308 version existed, but made a call and got one ordered for me. You just have to ask around.
BTW, I was quoted a wait of 6 weeks (not holding my breath for that to come true), and the price was very reasonable.
If you don’t mind me asking, was the price in the same ballpark as the $2500 on the website?
I had two different shops quote me just under $2200, and I’ve never done business with either shop (recently moved), so they weren’t cutting me any special deal.

Absolutely. I’ve been holding off on buying a .308 AR until now, and I’m glad I did.
We are and placed our order with LMT at Shot Show on the first day it opened!
So it is most likely that we will be on top of the list.

how reliable are these shops?
I’m not really sure what you mean by ‘reliable’. Like I said, I recently moved here, so haven’t done business with either location. Both are pretty decent sized shops with good inventory. One has an online store and a couple other retail stores in different cities. When I asked about prices, both said (after they called LMT) retail was $2500, then took out a calculator and gave me their prices, both around $2200.
One quoted a delivery of early May, the other said about 6 weeks or around March-April, but both gave me a disclaimer that LMT isn’t very good about meeting ship dates.
They didn’t even know about the .308 version when I came into the store, and both called LMT while I waited, so I don’t have any reason to believe that either shop was giving me bad info on the price or ship date (unless the bad info came from LMT).
I find it interesting that LMT’s MSRP on a .308, all steel/aluminum/etc AR with an MRP chassis with “miles” of rails will be less than the base Bushmaster ACR… I’m just sayin’…
Another place to look at is MSTN. WES has been good to me over the years and has a very good relationship with LMT. He was mentioning that the initial batch has chromelined barrels but there might be a shipment with stainless 5R barrels which are the same the UK MoD is getting with their guns. He also indicated it will probably be around April before we see these after talking with LMT earlier this week.
LMT often doesn’t meet their shipping dates but more times than not their products have been well tested and don’t have teething problems like some other companies…

PS - does anyone know for sure what the barrels will be threaded? I’ve been looking a couple KAC threads for their .308 version of a Triple Tap - called the Super Tap - and they are threading it for 3/4x24TPI which is not a common thread pitch for a lot of .308s.
The CM barrels are threaded. The pitch will be 5/8X24.
