A guy I work with got interested in AR’s a year or so ago and started asking me questions. I spent considerable time with him and ended up finding him an S&W. He bought it, shot it for 6-months and decided to give the rifle to his 23-year old son for Christmas.
He never had a problem with the S&W but right after Christmas, he started hounding me about finding him a “better” gun. I told him to read up on BCM, LMT, DD, and Noveske. He finally decided on a Noveske and asked me to help him order it.
We ordered his N4 Recce with Magpul furniture on April 1. We looked in the Baton Rouge area for a gun shop and found a popular Gun Shop/Range that would do the transfer for $25.
His gun arrived on April 13th and he went down to fill out the Form on the 14th. Now this guy is 46 but he was excited like a little kid. As luck would have it, he was “delayed” by the FBI background check. He told me he had the same FBI delay when he bought the S&W a year ago but simply waited 3-days and went to pickup his gun.
I told him to wait the 3-days and just go get it. He went down to the jerk Gun shop on the 4th day and they told him that they have to wait until the FBI calls them back. On the 7th day, he went back and they told him to stop bothering them that they will call him when he gets approved.
On the 10th day, I called the jerk Gun Shop and asked them what was the problem. They proceeded to tell me, in a rude and butt-wipe manner, that they want to wait for the FBI to call them back.
On the 12th day, I called a friend of mine who knows the owner of the shop and he told us how to get in touch with the owner. So, my friend talked to the owner, who then told him, “We want our customers to be happy …but it was store “policy” to wait until the FBI contacts them!”
I called some other FFL friends (about 150 miles away) and they said they have a file full of Forms that were delayed and the FBI never called them back. I was feeling bad that my buddy was getting the run around and came up with one last idea.
On the 18th day, I had my friend call and see if the jerk Gun shop would transfer the gun to another local FFL. The jerk Gun Shop said they would. So, my friend goes to a local Pawn Shop, explains his dilemma to the owner, and the Pawn Shop owner agreed to help and volunteered to send his employee with a copy of his FFL to the jerk Gun Shop to pickup the gun. When the Pawn Shop employee traveled the 20-miles to the jerk Gun Shop, the jerk Gun Shop proceeded to tell the employee that “the person’s whose name is on the FFL must pickup the gun”.
So, here we are on day 22 that the gun has been in the jerk Gun Shop’s possession and we don’t have the problem resolved yet.
I really don’t know what else to do and really feel bad for my buddy.
So, I’m just wondering, can anyone think of some other means that we can “convince” the jerk Gun Shop to turn over the gun?
Ain’t this pitiful?
