Optics planet.....be cautious.

I just wanted to get this out there and see if anyone else has gone through this.

I purchased several scopes from them. Upon receiving them I decided to return all scopes. I used their return system and returned all scopes in 1 box. A few days later, I only received a partial refund. I contacted them to ask why and they responded by saying their records indicate that they only received 2 scopes back, but I had returned all 5.

Now, I am working on getting this resolved, and hopefully it does get resolved, But I suspect theives in their warehouse because all the “missing scopes” were ones of higher value.

Interesting - thanks for the heads up

I always take pics of what I send back in case there is a dispute on high value items

Just curious… How do you buy buy several and return five? Why did you return the scopes anyway??

Thieves in Chicago?
Say it ain’t so…

I also do the picture thing. Far from a perfect solution, but demonstrates intent.

I guess to me 5 is several. I returned them because I did not want them.

I probably should have taken a picture, but that still doesn’t really prove anything.

My best guess is that they have a big warehouse with many minimum wage workers, and one of them seized on the opportunity.

I just hope it gets straightened out. I find it interesting that my RMA said I was returning them all, and no one questioned the fact that the records show only 2 received.

I’ve bought a couple things from them, one turned out to be a mislabeled demo scope instead of a NIB scope.

They fixed it, but they didn’t make it easy or fast.

With so many good vendors out there, it’s hard to go to them unless the price is really good, or like you, the intent is to look at all the scopes then return them - aka, a free demo of them all then turn em back.

Good luck.

They suck, always have always sucked, if you want to buy stuff, (buyers beware) they suck.

FYI to the next guy. This is not new

I went ahead and filed a dispute on the CC I used. At the end of the day they shorted me 1800 on my return and that is a lot of money to a guy like me.

I gave up on them years ago when it took 10 days to get a product from them. I am approximately 170 miles away. I was able to follow it by tracking number to the East Coast then eventually to me in Central Indiana. They tried to lie to me and say it never went to the East Coast but that was obvious BS. I will never do business with them again even if they give everything away for free.

I stopped doing business with them after the magazine fiasco. I know they cite some IL law, but I simply do not believe their excuse, and I think they stopped selling scary magazines for political reasons.

Bought a few things over the years. Never had problems

I’ve bought several things from them over the years, but have never had to do a return. That said, I received everything I ordered, but very slowly. I ONLY buy from them if I can’t get it anywhere else.

I just sent my first return back to them and provided them the tracking number in the email. Will see how that goes. I’ve never been in a hurry for the orders. The were equal price on a USO scope I was looking at and did 18% off. Couldn’t find a better deal at the time.

I had this issue with ammo being shipped to me… not from Optics planet. How I got it resolved was by the shipping label and the weight of the package documented by UPS. So I’m sure you can call UPS, FedEx and they know what the actual shipping weight it. 5 scopes weights much more then 2. I got nowhere with the company until I proved they only shipped me 1k of ammo instead of 2k based on the package weight… Just an idea…

I always got what I ordered from them. At times their quoted lead times on out-of-stock items are extremely optimistic (read: wrong), but I’ve always gotten my stuff.

I always ship things with a tracking number to make sure it gets there the way I want and in time too, the issue here is how they got it and the hands it passed through.

Well, I just heard back from them, and I guess they have the scopes but because they are higher price items they take a little longer to process.

Truth. Backordering, switch and bait fools. Can’t figure out how they stay in business.
