OPTICS:Burris TAC 30 1-4x , trijicon tr24 1-4x,or something else....

I am looking for a good 3gun optic with a bright illuminated reticle.

This will be my first optic so I am not sure if I should spend now or buy
cheaper now and spend later.

I like the price of the Burris tac30 1-4x,but I do not know anyone
that has one.

Does anyone have an opinion on both optics?

Thanks to all for any help.

I am testing one right now
the reticle can get very bright, the BDC works, have tested from 10 to 500 yards in 100 yard increments.

It’s a darn nice little scope, good glass, bright, clear, etc…
I ran one in a 3 gun match a few weeks ago and will again next weekend.

While I havn’t run the Trijicon, I do own a Burris Tac30 and I’ve got to say you won’t find a better scope for the money. I think it’s the only scope in it’s price range that has a daylight visible reticle. The glass is clear and crisp and I’ve found it to be every bit as good as the Burris XTR (it’s $600+ predecessor).

Some have said that the center dot is a bit large at 2.5MOA, and I even had the same thoughts, but now that I’ve run it in practice and a couple matches, it’s perfect. You only use the center dot out to 200 yards and for the targets we use in 3-gun and carbine matches (4-6MOA) it works great. Then at short range the dot and main circle are large and bright enough to be picked up fast.

One thing I’ve heard mentioned by people who shoot the trijicon with the triangle/post reticle is that hold over is hard. The targets disapear under the triangle when trying to hold over. This makes perfect sense to me, but I havn’t used one of those scopes or experienced it myself so maybe someone who uses a Trijicon scope could chime in with some first person experience.

I have owned the TR24 German #4/green dot and tried the triangle versions numerous times as well as owning scopes a lot more expensive than the Tac30

but, you know, it just works
It’s fast, clear and bright.
100 yards and under I run at 1X

I sight in dead on with 55g 223 loads at 100 yards and have my 77g 5.56 load hitting just to the top of the dot.
I can hold on out to 200 yards and hit plates easy and fast with either load.

3-500 yards I run the 77g load and it’s easy to hit steel plates
I like the 77g OTM load as it drifts a lot less in wind at 500 yards
