Optic for Remington 700 LTR?

I am going to get a Remington 700 LTR in .308, I am trying to decide on what scope to get. I dont want to spend 2k on it. The rifle is sub $1000 so I dont want to spend more than $1500 on an optic, heck I really dont want to spend that much. What I am looking at is:

Leupold MK4 LR/T M3 3.5-10
Nightforce 2.5-10 or 3.5-15
Trijicon Accupoint 22-2G 2.5-10

What are your thoughts if any, what would you go with for the rifle in question?

NIGHTFORCE, NIGHTFORCE, NIGHTFORCE. Excellent optic and considering the others in its class it’s a value. Don’t hesitate to look at the 5.5-22x50. You’re not giving anything up and only gaining. At longer ranges you will be glad to have the extra power especially when ranging. Consider the NP-R1 reticle as well.

There are always used Nightforces on Snipers Hide in the Optics and accessories thread. Great group of guys and a ton of the info you will be seeking. The M4Carbine of long range work. You should be able to find something in the $1200 range over there.

This should help

I went with the Leupold LRT m3 with the illuminated reticle. Great scope for my needs…

I had a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14. I sold it and went with a NightForce F1 3.5-15 with mil reticle and mil adjustment. Some time cheap is not the best way to go.

MIL/MIL is so easy, no conversion needed. You see you are of by .5 mil, you dial .5 mil and you are there.

Also mine is on an LTR also. The little gun shoots.

MIL/MIL is an option but if your used to MOA then go MOA. Is exactly the same. If you see your off 2 MOA in the reticle then you move 2MOA in click value which is 8 clicks on a Nightforce.

I find that 1 MOA @100 yards being close to 1 inch works better for me then 1 MIL which equals something like 3.6 Inches at 100 yards.

Stay with one system. If you have other scopes in MOA then go that route to cut down on the confusion.

While over in the precision rifle area I saw someone discussing the Pride fowler scopes, I looked into them and the Pride Fowler RR800-2 looks like it would meet my needs well. I especially like the rapid reticle. Does anyone have any experience with this scope or the RR800 scopes period? What are your thoughts etc.

Check out the new SWFA SS 3-9x42. I put one on my LTR and it is a really nice piece of glass for $599. It is FFP with Mil/Mil. The glass and dials are much nicer than the original fixed power version. I’ve only used it out to 250m, but I like it so far. There is only three things that could make this a better scope - paralax adj (didn’t need it at 250), illumination and 4x14 version.
