Optic and mounting selection help - Tikka T3X CTR + Leupold Mark 4

I have a new rifle I am attempting to set up. I have very little experience with optics outside of the red dot or very low fixed magnification tactical types. I have a couple of deer rifles that I have cheaper scopes on that I have had forever. I wanted to try out a new bolt gun and mess around with some longer range shooting so I recently purchased a Tikka T3X CTR in 308. It comes from Tikka with a picatinny rail already mounted.

I can purchase a Leupold with a decent discount so I am looking heavily at their selections. I really like the Mark 4 line and I am thinking about the below scopes. I am open to others in their lineup but would like the MSRP to stay under $1,300. I also have no idea what rings. height, or how I should mount. I know the 50mm will require a little more clearance. Any guidance you guys could give would certainly be helpful. I tried searching but wasn’t getting a lot of info. Thanks for the help.

When you say longer range shooting is that just at the range or hunting as well?

In what way are you getting a discount on Leupold?

Long distance will be range. I would probably hunt with it as well but none of those shots will be anything more than about 100-150 yards.

Any help with the mounting would be appreciated.

Since you said you were getting a discount I wasn’t sure if you were military, if you are there are a lot of companies that give big discounts.

I like my new Viper Vortex PST Gen II 5-25X50 and it’s in your price range. I would also look at some of the sniper forums, they deal alot more with the bolt guns.
