I am getting ready to pull the trigger so to speak on a suppressed SBR and was considering this set up.
Noveske 10.5" CQB SS barrel rifle http://bit.ly/o1gRtL with an AAC M4-2000 suppressor.
Please give me your thoughts on this set up. I have tried to read and learn as much as I can about SBRs and suppressors and from what I gather this should be a rather good set up? Everyone I talk to says that this would be a great, but no one I know actually owns a Noveske. My major concerns are that this rig just plain works right from the get go since I will be waiting a while to actually shoot it. I have also always kind of lusted after Noveske for some time and finally have enough fun money to acquire one.
Noveske is top notch, no doubt. So what is the concern? What leads you to believe that it won’t work from the get go?
The SBR’s that usually have issues are the bottomfeeder pieces of trash of the ARbortion that someone put together in Cletus’ garage with shit parts.
One thing I would do is ask about getting one without the KX3 since you will be running it suppressed. They should be able to install the appropriate suppressor mount.
Thanks guys, I know that Noveske is top notch and I really have no doubt that it wouldn’t work as it should right out of the box. Was more looking for some input on the set up. I just don’t really know enough about the SBRs and suppressing them so I was looking here for some first hand knowledge. It is quite a bit of money to put out there so I am just being sure that I am making the right decision with no regrets later.
The switch block would be the way to go if I don’t intend on running it suppressed all of the time? With that being said, I don’t think that you can run a barrel length rail over the SB though can you?
I have a Noveske 10.5" switchblock SBR and shoot lefty and the SB does a great job of mitigating the amount gas directed back in the shooters face. I also had a Noveske 10.5" SS SBR and while it was accurate, I prefer the switchblock due to the afforementioned gas feature. Both are most excellent choices in an SBR.
Great looking rigs buddy. I like the idea of the SB, but are there other rail options or is one pretty much stuck with what it comes with? Decisions, decisions, decisions.
Are you asking if you can run a rail that is longer than the gas system length? If so, Yes. People do it all the time and just do a cutout for the switch block on the rail. Check the SBR thread, there are quite a few pictures of SBRs with the DD Mk18 rail with a cutout for the switch block.
As viper said it has been done (RIS rail + SB)…not mine:
That’d be best-case scenario. I doubt there is a perfect port size to run both suppressed or un-suppressed. From what I understand, port size can be optimized for either suppressed or un-suppressed, not both. Hence the switch block. That said, SBR with gas port 0.0x" will function both ways, but not optimally. Smaller ports may exhibit signs of short stroking or failure to lock back on the last round, especially with under-powered loads, and larger port sizes may result in more blowback, higher bolt speed and bounce, etc.
