One quart canteen covers, old style still the best?

The recent discussion here about the old school AR mag pouches got me thinking about canteen pouches.

Once upon a time, soldiers used what were called canteens. Not as high speed as a plastic bag on your back, but we actually fought wars with em.

All the new styles seem to prefer a single flap with a hole in the center to go over the canteen. Maybe it is just me, but I still prefer the old two flap with snaps canteen cover. Great for reaching around and getting the canteen out and back in with one hand. I never had one fail on me. You can even get by with just one of the flaps snapped.

Anyone find a modern version that is worth a darn?

I also miss the Green Wookie Fur lining. Great for lonely nights in Ranger school.

I know back in the ol’ days we had the two flap canteen covers with the buttons too. Pretty nice and the fur was a little odd. They worked.

I still prefer my Camelback though.
