Omega-X 12.0 Carbine Rail questions

  1. If I have a local shop install it, I will not need the recommended barrel nut wrench - right? (IOW, it won’t loosen up later and need this?)

  2. Any down sides to this - looks like it at least gives you a full length rail to grip, install stuff.

  3. How is the weight? Once installed, how does it compare to having regular MOE handguards?

Thanks.

Why not just go with the one piece LITE rail if you are taking it some place to get installed?

The other option is installing it yourself, its pretty straight forward.

  1. Depends. Do they have the wrench? I’d call and ask. Some local smaller shops in my area hadn’t ever even heard of Daniel Defense. However, there may be work arounds to the barrel nut.

  2. The main reason I got mine was so that I could run my hand out further and actuate my light with my support hand side thumb from the palm up hand grip, which felt much more natural to me. Also, if it means anything to you, it’s free float.

  3. It distributed the weight far more evenly and I found that even though it weighed more, it felt lighter. I have no experience with MOE vs. FSP 12, but FSP 12 vs. KA RAS was like night and day.

  1. The shop carries DD rifles and rails.

  2. I can get it cheaper than the light, and now that I bought my DD XV, carbine I think I might want a longer grip. I also may want to go with an AFG - I don’t think I like verticle.

Thanks.

Also - how much total weight does this add to the carbine? I think it is 14 oz. WITH the nut.
