Omega vs Omega X 9.0 Middy(s)

I know, I am beating this rail thing to death. Would you prefer the Omega X with Barrel nut, or straight Omega zero mod to the rifle.
Pros and cons? I do not care about the instal, what is BEST?

I used to have a carbine omega (the one that installs over the delta ring), and now have a DD lite. I would prefer the one with it’s own barrel nut mount, as opposed to the way the other one mounts over the delta ring and locks down on the standard barrel nut. I think in the long run, the proprietary barreld nut mount would be just a bit more durable. Both are excellent rails though.

That is what I was thinking, but I do not have the knowledge about how they instal so I wanted feedback. When I put it on, its on to stay anyway. Thank you.

per website info, ‘X’ would be lighter by .5oz.

Omega = 9.7oz + 2.5oz* = 12.2 (*delta ring + barrel nut)
Omega X = 11.7 oz.

Omega does have the advantage of not needing to remove the front sight when you are only upgrading from a plastic handguard.

I know you are choosing between the original Omega and the Omega X, but basing from you saying you don’t care about the install, want the absolute best, and when it goes on it stays on, I would advise you get the DD Lite series.

Why? The original Omega was designed primarily for quick install. The Lite is more robust with a proprietary barrel nut and clamping system with the downside that install AND removal the rail requires removing the front sight post and muzzle device. The Omega X splits this by requiring you to install the proprietary barrel nut but allowing you to quickly remove and install the rail anytime after without removing the front sight tower/gas block. It uses a different and slightly less-robust mounting system to allow this.

Thanks Man! Thats exactly what I have been trying to piece together. Much appreciated.

I really like my DD lite rail 12.0. By far the best rail I have ever held.

Glad to help!

Dos, I agree! I would’ve gotten the Lite 12.0 myself but for the price I just had to try out the Omega X 12.0 FSP first. If it works out for me then I have $100 + for the ammo fund. :smiley:
