It’s a little late for me to ask this question but I figured I’d get opinions regardless.
I have a specwar 762, love it. Use it on 308 bolt gun and 3 AR’s (all 556, 300 blk soon). It’s quiet, weight doesn’t bother me much as I don’t run around and shoot stuff as some do, or hunt anything apart from hogs and coyotes that kill cattle.
Most buddies of mine don’t have suppressors meaning I still have to wear hearing protection when I shoot with them which nearly defeats the purpose of me having one right?
I did some research and found the Omega, uses same mount as my spec, lighter, shorter, configurable, etc… so I bought/ordered one. And if i want I can use it on my 308 I can. Or a buddies rifle that’s threaded but no mount bla bla bla…
My only question now is, would a dedicated 223 can be better? Would say a 556 saker or specwar 556 or 556k be better? Or other brands of equal quality AND customer service…?
I plan on getting a thunderbeast for my 308 as soon as i can is the only reason I’m bringing this up. But I’m torn between a dedicated 223 and another 308 suppressor.
I would personally say you are making the right choice with the Omega as a multi platform can. I have a Saker 556 that i bought wayyy before the Omega came out because i had multiple 30cal cans and i wanted something shorter, lighter, modular and could take a beating on my SBR’s. Had the Omega been out back then i probably would have went Omega due to the reduced weight of the Omega over the Saker. Although the MAAD mount on the Saker is pretty sweet, the ASR mount has a solid purchase on the muzzle device with multiple teeth contacting multiple points without being a ratchet mount (Like AAC) where the teeth can be worn over time. As you probably already know from shooting 556 through the Specwar, there will be a slight tone difference on the Omega vs the Saker556. Sounds different to everyone, but 556 through a 30cal can sounds deeper to me than 556 through a 556 can. You also now have the ability to piddle with end caps on the Omega so I’d say you made the right choice my friend. With all that mumbo jumbo being said, if you are anything like me you will probably end up owning all of them at some point haha. Hope my repetitive info was helpful, let us know how you like it!
