Ok Ive got my apple now school me on lowers!

Guys, hope this post finds everyone doing well, just wanted to start out by saying (as everyone tends to do) that this forum is an incredibly valuable tool in learning about the AR-15 platform. This being my first thread please forgive me if this info can be found elsewhere, I did a search and could not find anything.

I have a fairly good understanding now of the different uppers and options out there as well as the differences in BCG’s. I can’t find as much hard info about lowers, i.e. I have seen pictures of lowers with different machining inside and various styles of bolt releases, mag catches etc. Are there any advantages to the different LPK’s (quality, operation, dependability)? Is there any advantage to the (I believe the colt design lower but not sure) lowers with less material milled out. Was this like AR-15 specific BCG’s vs. M-16 where some people prefer the M-16 design? Are there any major quality issues with the abundance of low cost, forged and stripped lowers? Any knowledge yall would see fit to cram into my acorn size brain would be greatly appreciated as I wish to start building my AR’s from stripped lowers. Thanks!

Josh

99.9% of lowers will do the same thing.

1.) hold the magazine
2.) hold your fire control group
3.) hold your extension and stock

the difference in the 0.1% is how pretty you want to make it

Grant has some lowers that really look good made by “Sun Devil” in AZ. Take a look at www.gandrtactical.com.

Here is the thread for the lower… http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?search=action&category=SDEV

Costs $150.00
