Ok, here’s the problem! I was changing out a barrel, rail and gas block and got alittle ahead of myself. I put the low pro gas block on before the barrel nut and when I realized that I had goofed I went to remove it and the end of my tool broke clean off in the set screw. How in the hell do I get that out? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank, D
Do you have a photo of the problem?
They may or may not make these small enough for your application. If not, drill it out, tap it out.
Did it break off flush with the screw surface or do you have part of the tool still sticking out? If you still have a bit of the tool sticking out, you may want to try spraying the screw+tool with a little of wd40 then pull it out with pliers.
Its broke off just below level with top of set screw. I’m sorry I dont have any pics of this. I determined that I will have to tap it out, just need to find someone with a drill press. Thanks for the replies guys. D
You mean that the Allen key broke off in the set screw?
If so. Try using a dab of very sticky grease on the end of a tool of similar size and pulling the key out of the screw.
If not, try using a small dab of epoxy on the end of a dowel or nail or screw or something of that nature and epoxying it to the remnants of said broken tool.
If not, the use of above stated tool will ether give enough grip to remove broken key from set screw, or enough grip to remove said set screw. Be sure to center punch the broken key before you drill, and drill slowly. Also, if possible, drill only into the broken key as you should be able to salvage the set screw. If you do get it out and the set screw is of no use. Hardware stores or auto parts stores usually stock said set screw.
Just based the experiences of past ten years as an Automotive Technician. Above stated methods, tried in the purposeful order that they are listed in will most likely solve the problem, unless you become overzealous and break off a drill bit in the set screw

i have an icepick like tool that i used one time to lightly tap on the broken bit. i got it out, but was still left with a stripped allen head. lowes/HD has a drill bit called “Grabit” thats basicly a small easy out.
OK! Well I finally gave up on fixing this myself, I just couldnt get that dang thing out so I took it to a machine shop by my office and had them remove it for me. Good news is that I finally got my rifle put together and it looks great but new issue has come up but I think that I managed to work it out. Will post some pics and followup when I get my camera to behave. Thanks to all that replied! Dutch
