Six candidates in Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party died within two weeks of each other just before state-level local elections this month.

North Rhine-Westphalia municipalities have had to reprint ballots and, in some cases, require postal voters to cast new ballots for elections on September 14.

Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) scored a historic victory in Sunday’s Saxony-Anhalt election, with exit polls showing the party winning 44.6 percent of the vote and finishing well ahead of its rivals.

The result marks the strongest performance by a far-right party in a German state since World War II. The New York Times reported on Sunday afternoon that 90 percent of the votes have been counted, adding that the AfD “looks likely to fall short of an absolute majority.”

It would seem some in Europe want to turn the tide.

Thousands of people have protested in cities across Spain against the government’s handling of the influx of migrants to the Spanish exclave of Ceuta on the north African coast.

Spanish opposition parties accuse Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of abandoning the residents of Ceuta, while the government says right-wing parties are exploiting the crisis.

Oh, Oh, oh, it just keeps getting better.

The AfD said it would use military weapons to enforce the “remigration” of asylum seekers in eastern Germany.

Remigration is a flagship policy of the AfD, which calls for the mass deportation of illegal immigrants, foreign criminals and rejected asylum seekers.

An AfD source told The Telegraph that the party had long been a supporter of increased funding for the German police, but suggested Mr Siegmund’s weapon comments were spontaneous.
