This is a spinoff from the incident but NOT about that incident. Just the city council dude going off about out of towners, handguns, ccw laws.

Some of his comments are :blink:. Says at least two times they have high crime areas with drugs/prostitutes but its CCWers that are the problem in Canton? So when traveling through the city its safer to not CC even though he says they have high crime areas?

Of course he says owning a gun to hunt is ok since, you know, the 2nd says guns are ok for hunting but doesn’t say anything about BEARING arms…:smiley:

I agree with you… I think his guys line of reasoning is that people permitted to exercise their rights are just a second away from a criminal act, and thus they should be disarmed.

In the overall scheme of things CCW holders are not an issue, and do not make up any segment worth mention of the crime stats. Basically a non issue. If someone is going to go through the process, get a BG check, and buy a holster, ect…they are not the ones that need attention or made out to be the problem.

Pretty sad when leadership has such a divisive situation that needs to be taken care of swiftly and with tact, and instead supports the problem and causes it to snowball and grow into a monster. I liked the part where he states he is not anti gun, but for some reason implies your CCW permit should have a curfew? I guess the councilman never worked the night shift in a shithole city…
