I’ve been wanting a progressive for a long time and my GF totally hooked me up for my birthday. If I reload more that means I have to shoot more, right?
Thanks! I made the plate at work. It is 24x18x.74" steel. I wanted something sturdy to mount the press on that would help damp vibration. The plate weighs about 85 pounds.
I spent several months in Europe during the 1990 FIM race season chasing all of the GP races after I ETS’d from the Army. John Kocinski was the 250cc champion that year on a YZR250. Those were the days…
My friend and I won pit passes and had track access during qualifying. The photos below was taken in Brno, CZ. I forgot to buy film before we entered CZ and the only thing I could find was AGFA black and white…
I watched Kocinki’s career closely. I first saw him race at Summit point in 1985. He was 15 years old and co-riding an imported GSX-R with Dave Aldana for Cycle-tech in the WERA National 8 hour. He was amazing even then. On to the factory Yamaha FZ750 in '86 and then to KR’s TZ250s in 1987. At Mid-Ohio in '89 he won the 250 national with more than half a lap lead turning laps that would have put him in the top 5 in the Superbike race.
He’s a successful Hollywood real estate agent now.
No problem. Roadracing has been a big part of my life and I enjoy talking about it a great deal. With winter setting in though I’m glad to have the new progressive press so that I can enjoy some indoor activity!
I wish you guys would have seen the bench before I cleaned it off. It was hard to tell if the top was even made of wood. Chainsaw parts, race kart stuff, tools, reloading paraphernalia, etc. I spent the better part of an hour squaring away that disaster. I figured that while I was getting used to a progressive that I needed to remove some distractions.
Looks AWESOME,now stop taking pic’s for Guns & Ammo and get pulling the dam lever !!! ;) I’ll have me one of those new fangled presses someday,I still do it one “stroke” at a time,:o but I get it done !! I am jealous of your setup, congrats !!
I have a Hornady L-N-L AP like yours but my seating die is in the place where your empty die location is. Am I missing something? Mine kicks the completed round into the tray where your seating die is.
I only load .45 ACP on this press and use my Rock Chucker for my rifle loads.
Are you using the CFE & Varget on your bench for .223/5/56?
Could not read the label on some of your other powders.
You can seat in either station. I am going to start seating in #4 and crimping in #5. I have the seat/crimp in #5 right now so I can get a good look at the powder charge before placing the bullet.
Very nice. I have the same press still in the box sitting in the spare room. It looks like that’s where it’s going to stay til after Christmas because I don’t have time to get a bench together before then.
