Clearly, this was an isolated incident. That happened more than once.
Did I call it in the other thread, or what? That guy had done this numerous times before. He was way too sure of himself for that to have been the first time.
Which means his partner and everyone who worked with him is culpable, IMO.
I am Jack’s Complete Lack of Surprise. Good thing the recent video got such attention, or he would still be on the job, getting ready to put people in their graves for no reason.
As we don’t even seem to be able to have a “good cop” thread anymore, I don’t see this one lasting very long.
I don’t know why the forum is so sensitive about the subject, bad cops exist. So long as they hire “people” sooner or later you will get bad cops despite your best efforts.
You handle it the same way you handle it when somebody can’t manage the fries at McDonalds. You get somebody new.
Unfortunately, the fry cook at McDonald’s does not have the power to ruin someone’s life, and then walk away untouched, because he does it under the mantle of “the law”.
And the fry cook doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt in the eyes of the “brotherhood” of his fellow fry cooks.
I know you don’t want to step on your partner in a conversation/confrontation, but I am not understanding why someone doesn’t disengage this guy once there are multiple officers on scene.
I doubt there will be any charges placed on him, but I do hope the department has enough sense to kick him to the curb.
NewsChannel5’s investigative team obtained a third video that once again shows a Canton police officer making death threats during a traffic stop.
Hat Trick!!!
He’s gone. He says at 5:00 that he will perjure himself in court to justify shooting the passenger. What will happen any time he takes the stand in a court case?
This guy doesn’t care about firearms rights. He has no clue. He probably barely qualifies every year. If he would loose his badge and gun, he would only miss his badge…
I agree with this. I will also add that the forum doesn’t have any positive posts about good cops doing good things. I think that is the norm for most news worthy police incidents. If there were more “Hey this cop saved this guys life” or “this cop rescued this dog” threads, there wouldn’t be much of an issue. I saved a guys life with our newly issued AEDs a few years ago and it never made the local news. It made the last page of the Borough Paper.
Oh yeah, I want to be a McDonald’s fry cook when I retire…
I’m not following this “you have to post good stories in order to post bad stories” logic. If we extend it to fry cooks, since we don’t recognize fry cooks for frying good fries, and can’t talk about fry cooks spitting in our fries.
Not many people get a lot of recognition from simply doing their jobs. They fuck up and they get all kinds of exposure. I don’t know why anyone would think this would be different with LE? It does indicate that many LE feel they’re a protected class.
Recall the axiom of sales: If someone has a good experience they will tell 3 about it; a bad one…12. Now with the Internet I would add an order of magnitude to the negative.
Honestly we could extend that to a lot of different things. I used to post positive incidents with concealed carry holders defending themselves and loved ones every day but got tired of it and it didn’t add that much to the forum. On the other hand people post videos of knuckleheads doing stupid shit with firearms all the time so we can jump on them. Different but similar…
I think the vast majority of people feel that most of the police are the good guys most of the time. I also think that people take it for granted that the police are doing their job and that is to keep people safe so when they veer out of the good guy lane into the bad it’s definitely something worth talking about. Talking about Officer Jones helping Citizen Jane isn’t nearly as interesting as talking about Jones beating the snot out of someone without provocation.
Suffice it to say the majority are the good guys the same way most people are good people. You have an equal amount of bad people percentage wise in society, the police, the military, etc. Putting on any type of uniform doesn’t make one a saint.
In my opinion the dickhead in the videos threatening people’s lives under color of law needs to be in jail, period.
Title 42, U.S.C., Section 14141 makes it unlawful for state or local law enforcement agencies to allow officers to engage in a pattern or practice of conduct that deprives persons of rights protected by the Constitution or U.S. laws.
Cory and the rest of the good guys thank you for doing a great job!
