OAL question with 11.5 barrel

Can anyone tell me what the OAL is of a rifle with a 11.5 barrel and CTR stock? Thanks.

I just measured mine it is 28" closed and 31 1/4" open. This is with a mil spec CTR and mil spec extension/tube. My CTR has the regular short pad not the enhanced pad. You’ll be good to go with 28". Good luck.

Excellent. Thanks. Paperwork is getting filled out tomorrow.

Awesome!

Just wanted to add that, while you’ll likely get your stamp either way, the correct measurement, per NFA Branch, is with the stock extended. YMMV.

Good save. Thank you!

Sent my measurements in with stock closed. No probs.

Roger that.

Like I said, you’ll likely get approved either way. Just some food for thought on the next Form 1. Just remember that once the barrel is shorter than sixteen inches, it doesn’t matter how long or short the OAL is. There is nothing to be gained by measuring it with the stock collapsed, i.e. this is not akin to the popular philosophy of listing the shortest possible barrel length on the form. In the NFA game, I’d rather play ball by the rules set forth by the umpires. Again, YMMV.

I wonder what the question was that lead to that answer. It doesn’t look like it was directly relating to a Form 1 or SBR.

I assumed he was looking for the OAL for a form 1 or 4 too.

Don’t think so. I went back ans it mentions “how to measure a folding stock” and “an acceptable method for attaching a muzzle brake to a barrel to be considered permanent”. These were to avoid the SBR definition. But like was mentioned it becomes a SBR when the barrel is under 16" or the OAL is under 26". Once your barrel is under 16" the OAL really doesn’t matter.

This is the NFA section.
