MAGPUL EYEWEAR

We build products for the real world, with every item designed for a unique mission that provides more value, simplicity, and features than anyone else. At Magpul, we’ve always felt strongly about eyewear because the need for reliable eye protection is rooted in our daily lives. Whether we’re at work or at play, we understand the demand for good-looking eyewear that protects us as across the range of activities that we and our customers engage in every day. As a result, we’ve created ballistic rated eyewear that’s engineered from quality materials and finished with an enduring design.

Terrain
The Design: The Terrain is designed for our most demanding customers, and it’s well suited for those who require ballistic and safety protection for maximum coverage in a larger frame that best fits medium to large faces. Constructed from TR90NZZ, the strongest thermoplastic material available for eyewear, the Terrain provides extreme impact resistance, durability, and flexibility in a lightweight package. The Terrain’s oleophobic-treated lenses shed liquid and won’t be degraded by water, sweat, or chemicals, and they’ve been both impact tested and safety rated, providing you with the all-around protection your eyes need. Its 8-base wrap and over molded anti-slip rubber nose and temple pads prevent slippage and make sure the Terrain stays put while you’re in motion. Its lenses come in a range of polarization, color and mirror options to give you the premium clarity and contrast you need from a great pair of shades, supporting many high energy activities in variable light conditions and environments, to include running, hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities. On the range, where high levels of ballistic protection are a must, the Terrain will exceed expectations. The design of the Terrain’s low-profile temples integrates well under helmets, headsets, and over-the-ear hearing protection, ensuring that you’re protected and able to perform naturally wherever you put them and yourself to the test.

Key Design Features:
• Constructed of TR90NZZ, the frames combine lightweight construction and ballistic protection, providing rugged strength and flexibility
• Ballistic Rated Z87+ lenses meet both high velocity impact protection and safety ratings
• Oleophobic and anti-glare lenses repel liquids and provide oil, sweat, sunscreen, and other chemical protection
• Low profile temples integrate with over-the-ear hearing protection and communication headsets
• Coated stainless steel pins provide simple but dependable hinge functionality
• Anti-slip rubber nose and temple pads

Summit
The Design: The Summit is designed for our most demanding customers, and it’s well suited for those who require ballistic and safety rated protection with coverage from a smaller frame than the Terrain, and is best suited for small to medium faces. Constructed from TR90NZZ, the strongest thermoplastic material available for eyewear, the Summit provides extreme impact resistance, durability, and flexibility in a lightweight package. The Summit’s oleophobic-treated lenses shed liquid and won’t be degraded by water, sweat, or chemicals, and they’ve been both impact tested and safety rated, providing you with the all-around protection your eyes need. These look awesome!

You’ve certainly found a way to take some more of my money.

Great looking product, will be excited to test em out. Keep up the great work.

Like a camera, eyes have greater depth of field with constricted/smaller pupils.
While tinted lenses are “easier” on eyes, from a shooters performance standpoint, tinted lenses have always been sub standard to clear lens- IME.
If you’re targeting shooters, why do you not offer clear lenses?

Gaijin - No clear lenses yet. However, for more detailed information on our current lens combinations and the wide range of outdoor activities in which they absolutely excel please check out the Magpul Eyewear Landing Page

Very nice. I like all the different options you have made available. Any chance these are US made?

Screw eyewear where is your bipod???

Vegas, thanks for your question and interest. We make everything in the US that we can. Like the apparel, however, there are some things that factories just don’t have the capability to do well here in the US right now. We are working on changing that. We intend to eventually get as much over here as we can if we can get some lens houses rolling in the US. We have chosen some of the best partners in the world for eyewear, we have representatives at the factories, and our engineers, designers, and product managers visit the factories regularly. Oh, and not in China.

Kenneth, they should be shipping in August. Keep an eye on our website and social media postings.

Thanks- but I’m a shooter first and foremost.
When you have clear lenses available I’ll take a look.

The non-polarized rose lenses have a very high light transmission rate, and actually work really well in most conditions right down to twilight. You will see additional lens options as well as additional frames in the future.

On the other stuff…Bipod, Pro, and Hunter American are all shipping in August. We are currently actually building production on all three, so barring a natural disaster, that’s pretty solid for timeline. PMAG27 GL9 is on the way, as well…we’ve had a lot of testing resources tied up, and it’s been a juggling act to keep it moving through, but it’s almost done.

Good enough for me. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. Like most things you guys do, I think these will be a big success.

Maybe a silly question, but a lot of the lens specs are about impact protection. Curious about clarity and UV blocking range of the lens. Thanks

We try to have the laundry list of specs on the actual web pages, but yes…they are full 100% UVA/UVB protection, have anti-reflective, anti-scratch, and oleophobic coatings (helps a lot with smudge resistance). The lenses are absolutely optically correct, edge to edge, and we use a very high end polarization that is phone, dot sight, (including EoTech) and most LCD screen friendly. We have used a slightly higher light transmissivity than normal fashion oriented glasses, so that it’s enough protection and light reduction in full sun, but not so much that you need to take them off in overcast conditions. The unpolarized rose are the highest light transmission, and are great for even early morning and evening. The mirror flash treatments block slightly more light than the non-mirrors, and, of course, also block slightly more color hues in the shade of the mirror. With the combinations of coatings, tints, and treatments that we used, we could have come up with a fancy name for the combination and made up some marketing stuff, but the reality is that they are just great lenses and we’d rather not try to be pretentious about it.
