Hi all. First off, I’d like to say thanks to M4C for all the help & knowledge available.
This is now where I spend most of my time(reading).
Stripped Noveske N4 lower Norgon ambi catch Geissele SSA trigger
KNS pins
LMT ambi selector(scalloped right side by Unclemoak @ TOS)
Magpul enhanced trigger guard Noveske QD end plate
Vltor receiver extention
Vltor emod stock
Magpul MIAD grip with extra bolt/firing pin/cam pin
H buffer, spring & castle nut from Bravo Company USA
All other lower parts are Colt from SAW
Landchipper & Velcro, Yup, light works pretty good for me right there, very easy to actuate with my thumb, and isn’t too distracting(for me anyway). Also helps keep the thumb off the switchblock.
Doc, honestly this is my first Aimpoint product and the larger tube with smaller dot is what attracted me. I’m working on another build that will probably get a T1. If that blows the M4s away, I’ll switch. On a related note, I’m still not sure about the killflash.
Todd, I just had turned that thing out a turn before the pic, trying to get the right side release to work a little better. It’s not out far enough for the catch to turn with the button fully depressed, but it’s close. It will probably get a turn back in this evening. ETA: Turned it back in, two rounds.
Thanks for the comments & compliments, keep em coming.
Looks very nice, I have a similar list I am working on for my next build, a few differences but mostly the same. and to see a picture of a finished build similar just makes me more anxious. LOL
You know what’s a distraction? When your white light casts a shadow directly over what you’re trying to aim at. Keep it at 12 o’clock, it is a better location for a light despite the looks. Anyone else telling you different hasn’t actually put much time using a light in that position.
This is quite a nice weapon. I’d still put the X300 on the 6 o-clock side due to only having 1" of FH past the light. You won’t see a shadow being that close to the end of the FH. Maybe if this were a 16" rifle but not that close. I can’t stand to have anything in my sight picture other than the target. Very nice rifle however!
That looks nice. I know some very squared away shooters, including our own GotM4 who run their light in that position. Seems to work just fine for them.
Very nice rifle! I ran Comp M4’s in the past but if your an Aimpoint type definitely look into the H1/T1.
As for the light, place it where you can manipulate it the best and consider support side shooting also. I run X300’s mostly, especially on my working rifle and I use a 12 o’clock mount. The light’s location means little to my sight picture or obscuring any vision. IMO and with my grip, the Noon mount position is the easiest or most ergonomic position to operate the light, especially with the X300’s momentary push on for and is a very ambi-friendly location no-matter.
