I am thinking about getting the Noveske Recce light basic upper to run my suppressors with! My question is I want to put a rail on it, (possibly a Surefire midlength rail) and was looking at the pics of the upper on the site and noticed that it appears the front part (behind the front sight base) that holds the rail system in looks to be triangular shaped. My carbine sytem is round and I am wondering if any of you that have a Recce basic can tell me what exactly will work rail wise and if in deed it is triangular and not round?? Thanks…
My Noveske Recce Basic came with the triangle cap. I installed a Larue rail on mine so I don’t use the triangle cap anymore.
Someone may correct me on this, but I believe if the rail is made to fit in the round style cap it will also fit in the triangle one. It will just make contact in three points instead of all the way around like it would with the round ones.
do you have to remove the fsb to install the Larue rail?
Yes you do.
Yes - anytime you have to remove or install a new barrel nut or if you use a one piece rail the FSB will have to come off. Not so for a few rail systems that attach to the existing barrel nut - such as the DD Omega.
What are you wanting a rail for?
I’ve looked at a few “drop-in” 2-piece rails so I don’t have to remove my FSB. I’m waiting for the Magpul Mid-length MOE to come out. If I don’t like it, I’ll probably go with the Trop 2-piece Drop-In. Next to the Troy, I like the Daniel Defense Omega.
Hopefully, the MOE will suffice…we’ll see…
