Noveske QD End Plate

I want to be able to attach a sling to the rear of receiver on my N4 Light Basic Carbine.
Anyone with experience with the Noveske QD End Plate?

gotm4 installed one on my N4 basic build:

The DD heavy-duty sling swivel is a snug fit against the castle nut, but otherwise no issues. I’ve had minimal time with it at the range since installation, so I’ll let someone else chime in with a range report. Hope this helps…

Sheri at Noveske told me it needed to be staked? Does that mean that it must be heated and spot smashed into place?

Is staking and installing this plate a gunsmith only affair? Or can I do it with basic gun savvy and the right tools?

Is it easily undone? Does it get in the way of any possible options or work in the future?

Thanks for the great photos:)

Do you have much time with that (Magpull ?) sling?

You can see the staking in the middle picture posted above.

It does not require heating the plate, only striking it with a hammer and punch or spring loaded center punch, to displace metal from the plate into the reliefs in the castle nut, to aid in preventing the castle nut from rotating and therefore loosening.

It can be undone at a later date to facilitate the swapping of parts for repair or further upgrade.

You can stake it yourself with a little mechanical ability and the previously mentioned tools in about five minutes.

I have 2of the end plates and prefer them to the DD and Troy models. They are easy to install and anyone with a little mechanical savvy can do it.

minimal time with the MS2 sling since installing an ASAP on my 6920 and the Noveske plate shown above. After school activities are on the rise, and the range I frequent is closed for ~two weeks for remodeling

Nice photos. Does your stock depress the QR button on your swivel when in the fully closed position? It appears to in the photo.

Which one do you prefer with the MS2 sling?

tomato, tomahto… for my skill level transitions side-to-side seem the same, and range of motion is pretty similar. I’m happy with both - it’s nice to have quality choices.

Thanks, I will probably end up getting the ASAP.

I have 2 of the Noveske plates on recent builds, and just sold the asap plate

I really like them with a swivel and the ms2 sling.

If all i ran all the time was the ms2 i would run the asap, but im still expermenting and running both a 2 and single pt sling.

overall, i think things simple clean, this plate does just that, witht he ms2 and swivel i get jsut as quick transistions and when its not on, its clean and quiet.

it just works for me

I too have the Noveske QD end plate with a MS2 sling. The end plate works great and the low profile is a plus for closing the stock. I have had no issues with the MS2 and the swivel, for my skill level it works great.

I’ve been using one for around 6 months or so, it works very well.

Yes it does depress it, but with the stock closed it is very secure anyway.

Looks like the stock is so tight on it that it wouldn’t even matter unless all of the stars lined up and your weapon was hanging and you happened to open the stock quickly.

I’ve been considering this back plate as I’m looking for a simple mounting solution for a 1-point sling. Thanks for all the pics guys!

I didn’t see it as a problem particularly, just an interesting situation if the button actually blocked locking the stock down in the closed position. I went with an ASAP with my MS2, I think there will be less chance of binding with the ASAP over the Noveske/QD sling mount. Time will tell on that issue though. Slings/mounts are like holsters, you tend to collect a few before you find the one that really suits you and your needs.

I’m really wanting one of these for my build. I’ve no experience with it but it looks like a great idea for mounting a sling and very simple. I’m all about simple. To my way of thinking it adds another mounting option and is there if you need/want it.
