Noveske N4 recce VIS?

Hey guys, Im lookin at my next AR purchase and I think i’ve narrowed it down to 2 choices. The Noveske n4 recce with VIS (midlength gas). Since I wanted midlength and the VIS upper looks like im stuck with fixed front sight base. How do you guys feel about that when using optics, like say aimpoint? The 6920 has a fixed front sight post and I kind of like it, one less thing to engage when in combat if your optic fails. The other rifle I was looking at was the LMT MRP, I noticed on their site it comes in either carbine gas length or rifle length. Would rifle length gas be good with a 16 inch barrel? If you want the MRP rifle length and want longer than 16 inch you have to get a SS barrel, which i’d rather not get. So im thinking more Noveske at this point. Any input ?

fixed front sights work great with zero-magnification (or 1x) optics like Aimpoints and Eotechs and even a 1.5x ACOG, but when using substantially magnified optics they really eat up your field of view.

If you plan to run a scope or a higher magnification ACOG I’d say skip the fixed front, otherwise you should be good to go with the Noveske.

The above post sums it up nicely.

My N4 middy with fixed front post is running an Aimpoint M4S…no issues with the post…you see it, but with zero-magnification, the post is ‘there’ but that’s about it…a non-issue.

My N4 Stainless 18" sports a 2.5 - 10 Night Force and has a folding front sight in order to provide better field of view.

Both URs are Vltor VIS.

You wont regret the Noveske, mine is my favorite AR in my collection. As for your comment about being stuck with the standard FSB, call them up they will put a low pro on if you want it

I’ve used an EOT 552, 4x ACOG, 3x ACOG and a Nikon 1-4x on rifles with fixed FSB. Factory or Larue mounts. The FSB is a non-issue with all. Magnified optics make it ghost away to nothing.
