Cool looks aside, why is the Noveske KX3 flash suppressor worth $125?
The main cost is probably from its production. Then there’s the R&D cost that went into it.
Not to mention that it has no real competition and it’s made by Noveske. ![]()
It’s a tool. If you need that tool for your application, then it’s well worth the price.
I’d agree with the production and R&D influences here, and it might also be worth noting that the KX3 is somewhat more complicated than one might think it is following a cursory glance. In photos, it looks like a simple piece of pipe with a threaded receptacle welded onto the end of it, but internally there is a bit more than that going on, and the fabrication and design work involved with the KX3 does offer some justification for the price of admission.

Gosh. I never thought that thing looked cool at all. ![]()

Assuming John doesn’t object to the bandwidth drain too badly, this image gives you some idea of what I was talking about earlier with respect to the KX3’s internals. There IS obviously some work involved in building one of these things.

Me either. I always thought it looked cumbersome and self defeating.
they are very effective at taming the muzzle blast/flash on an SBR.
Made a big difference on this (compared to an A2):

You might get more responses in the non-NFA section. Probably ten times as many people have them on 16 inch barrels as NFA barrels.
Actually, I would never have expected that to be the case here – I’ve always equated these with SBR applications.

On TOS I would be inclined to agree, but I doubt you’ll find that here.
The KX3 is good, but for a longer bbl, a Vortex, Phantom, or a good f-h/suppressor mount would probably be better.
I agree, but on a SBR, the additional backpressure the Noveske provides definitely helps in cycling the action, which is one of the reasons many SBRs have problems operating.
Plus, the flaming pig IS cool!
ETA, some Krinkovs have their own version:

which is there for the same reason.
my 7.3" SBRs ran fine with the A2. however, a muzzle flash the size & color of a pumpkin, and a blast that rattled my tooth fillings wasn’t acceptable. the KX3 significantly reduced the flash, and seems to focus the blast downrange so it’s not unpleasant for me or those to the left/right of me.
Gentle Ben, thanks for your replies. Your info is the kind I was looking for. You’re running much shorter barrels than I am (mine’s an 11.5") and the muzzle blast doesn’t seem to be a major problem. I seem to be having more trouble with the extra gas in the receiver than anything else but it runs like a Rolex so maybe I ought to spend my money on a gas buster charging handle. Here’s a pic of mine with the A2.

that’s a nice stick, Blindpig. how’s the muzzle flash at night with the A2?
Thanks for the compliment. Don’t know about the nighttime muzzle flash; I haven’t had a chance to fire it in the dark yet. I suspect, however, that it makes a pretty sizable orange bloom.
a Vortex-style f/h would likely solve that problem.
I’m confused, R&D?
They copied the Bulgarian Krinkov brake. Correct me if I’m wrong. Their first ones even looked exactly like the Krinkov brake. Watch the Leonidas video on Noveske’s site, that should end any debate about effectivness, and yes I think it looks cool. That said, does anyone know if it performs better than the actual Bulgie brake?
