Noveske gas block removal

Sorry for the dumb question, but here goes.

I have an 18" Noveske barrel, with the gas block attached with a pin and set screw. I need to remove the gas block to install my Larue rail. Is the pin directional, meaning should it be tapped out left-right or right-left?

The pins normally used on them are straight 1/8" SS pins, not tapered.

Thanks!

I just picked one up and it is a straight pin. At least mine is.

When I spoke to John Noveske about this he said “If you ever have to remove the gas block, send it back, you will only bend every punch you have”

I took this to mean that the pin are made of Kriptonite and pressed in with a blue light plasma press. Good luck!

Until that day,

I’ve removed and reinstalled a few Noveske gas blocks and have never had a problem tapping out the pin. They were all straight pins.

Thats dumb considering all the barrels they sell which require the gas block removed to get the barrel nut on.

Uhh, as mentioned there is no barrel nut so the block has to come off. Unless if I just missed something.

Oh, it was much more of a bitch to tap out than most pins you come across.

Even though I didn’t have a problem getting them removed, I did have to give them a good whack!

Noveske should have just place the parts in a plastic bag so we don’t have to risk damaging/scratching the gas block. Well… guess I have to either build my own barrel clamp out of wood or buy one… Kind of sucks.

We remove them all the time.
