Are noveske bbls throated match?
guess i’ll call noveske.
His SS barrels are chambered with his version of the wylde chamber which he call match mod 1. His N4 barrels are 5.56. You can never go wrong with a Noveske anything.
I have the SS and it’s the Mod 1 chamber.
It fires 77 grain Blackhills Mk262 about as slippery as you can ask for.
I’ve fired damn near everything through it though.
I was wondering if those barrels will shoot the 80grain;ammoman has it listed & says the barrel needs to be throated.
Where’s a good place to get those 77 grain Blackhills Mk262?
Assuming you can wait up to a year, then order direct from Black Hills, unless you spot some of the manufacture reloaded online. I believer Grant had some at one time, but not the Mk262, but rather a 77 grain blue box.
As for the chambering, I’ve not fired anything over 77 grain out of the Noveske. I’ve fired a ton of 62 grain and 50 grain. It likes the 77 grain BTHP like caviar though. ![]()
i’ve always wondered why ammoman has that particular disclaimer. I’ve spent hours on the phone with sierra chatting about loads and neither they nor their website (as far as I can find) ever mentioned anything more than preferring a 1:7 twist to stabilize it.
i realize it’s possible to have a bullet set back into the case by contact with the lands resulting in higher pressure, but as far as i know you’d NEED a special match chamber to do that as 80g SMK never touched the lands in any AR15 i’ve ever shot.
It is VERY rare. The closest you are going to be able to come is their blue or red box 77gr. Both of which is in stock by the way. ![]()
